My pedestrian opinion

It sounds great. The biggest wow though. Palm mutes. It's a thick sound to manage, easy to over or under control. That said. You did good I dig it.

Even with a boost, I have a difficult time making rectos (or SLOs, for that matter) working for my palm muting stuff

It's fine if I'm playing slow, drop d boomer-y stuff, or even death metal style stuff in an extended range, because then you can just cut the low end out completely and not worry about it

Playing in standard tuning though, it's really difficult to make shit tight with a recto, and I've been dicking around with it for a while now, trying to figure out the best ways to make it work

Maybe this is why i have been drawn to drop d so much. I love all the 5 higher strings in standard, but i dont get the shit with the low e.

I don't think it matters as much tonally with the amps you like and own, but it does make all amps way easier to dial in when you don't have to account for super fast staccato muting

In my quest to make recto sounds usable on recordings, I've recorded some stuff

Thanks @NowYou'rePlayingWithPower that was a great idea to add some piano and keyboards!

Bummer man. Bummer

I enjoy your super fast staccato muting, but I am going to steal that description to describe my playing. LMAO, it fits so perfect

It's like you get me <3

The way you dial in tones, I'm pretty sure it would work in most contexts - including mine

So like, if I just plugged one of my guitars into your MGL rig, i'm pretty sure it would sound great for the palm mutes

I was just making the point that with rectifiers, they are really difficult to dial in for the fast stuff

@TheBiggestJerk how long have you been playing tube amps? You've never heard of this before?
Apparently not long enough. I have an amp guy for this. So far non of my stuff rattles (for now).

It generally isn't a problem with older/NOS tubes, it's only recently since tube manufacturers have gone down in quality

Lots of microphonic ax7s come out of the factory, which can become a big problem in high gain amps

They're a great quick fix for a problem that's all too common nowadays

I thought you kicked out the keyboard player from your band?
