Love where this is going!
How much does that slab-o-poplar weigh

Sick. I love Kramers, the yellow really pops

Looking killer Bro, you doing a special wind for this one or are you sticking with the Whiskey ?

Killer! What did you do to the face of the headstock under the decal? Has it been sprayed over yet, it's hard to tell?

The whole wetsand level then polish etc process is a ton of work. Have fun with that!

IIRC there were a bunch of little changes to the neck plate over the years. Mine says Neptune, NJ but was MIJ.

Hell yeah! I have a star body in that same color! I just need some time to put my shit all together. Looking at this thread gives me a kick in the ass to start assembling my build! It just sucks that life and work get in the way sometimes. LOL. I actually have an RTM pickup that will be installed in my build. I know who to contact if the pickup doesn't work out! Can't wait to see your final results.

Damn humidity won't go down enough for me to make any more progress on this thing 😖

Just got back to the states last night. Nothing better to do with jetlag for 14 hours of timezone difference and 15 hours on planes. so, decided to just put this together as is.

I'm not a fan of this brand nitro, but Reranch hasn't started back online after COVID, so I didn't have a choice. I will probably do a light Relic, but for now I just want to play it. I can't speak highly enough about Musikraft necks. I got the body for stupid cheap, but it needed alot of work and I had to do alot of the shaping. That's why you see somewhat of a dish on the contour.

NICE! I think you will like the poplar. The Poplar is warm enough to offset the thinness of the Floyd but still has alot of snap to it like Alder but it is a little softer than alder but not as soft as basswood and it still has a nice reasonance like alder does.

Both of my number 1 and 2 1983 Kramers are Poplar, I owned a couple of maple bodied 1983 Kramers and I didn't really like them as much as the poplar ones.

I've owned my number 1 since it was new and it is Poplar. The only downside is in about 20 years the Floyd post will egg out and you'll have to section in a piece of maple into the body and reset the post but it aught to last at least a good 15-20 years so you probably don't have to think about that for a long time. I've reposted both now they're both still great players.

There was/is alot of debate over Ed's Kramer Franky and 5150 and there was an employee at Kramer that said both were poplar and I think Matt Bruck confirmed at least the 5150 guitar as Poplar a few years back.

Your new Kramer looks great Scottosan! :2thumbsup:

Beautiful! What bridge pup did you go with? Also I remember when you got your ibanez you were going to make a tone nerd version of a dimarzio evolution, can you also do a version of the tonezone, if someone wanted to buy one?

Looks great! What don’t you like about the Oxford nitro? Is it the color? In the pictures it looks like the yellow looked a little bolder and brighter when fresh but still looks really good.

I hope to try a Musikraft neck sometime soon. Keeping an eye out on ebay for them to auction off a Soft V strat neck with ebony board.

I did a super cheap graffiti yellow and black partscaster a few weeks ago just because I had so many leftover parts from other ones all I needed was a body. I took a chance on an XGP one on clearance from Guitarfetish and am surprised at how nicely it turned out. The only issue at all with it is how rough the inside of the routs are, and I guess that is only an issue because I put a vega trem on it and if you look closely you can see that its not a clean line on the exposed bridge route. Picking nits on a body I paid probably 70-something bucks for in the end I suppose.

It just may have been the composition of temperature and relentless humidity. I made a point to wait for the the humidity to get below 50, but it was just so damn hot that the application wasn't as easy as my previous works, but I don't recall doing any mid summer builds so maybe that's it. For what I use my guitars for, pickup R&D, this is perfect and I won't worry about daily wear and tear

Ah, gotcha. It has been extra humid at times this Summer. It’s what kept me from making any attempt at doing what you did with any of the partscasters I have done this year. I’ve never painted a guitar or used nitro lacquer at all and without a specially set up interior space to do it in it just seemed like I would be setting myself up for failure with this weather. Yours looks slick though!
