They do it to sell more product and make more money, pure and simple. Catsup for instance has sugar in it. I buy no sugar added catsup now and it tastes the same and actually costs more! So nobody buys it. It's all backwards. Interestingly enough the cafeteria at the place I work understands the hidden costs and incentivizes us to eat better. Any of the "FIT" meals there are about 1/3rd the price of their reg cafe fare.

Good luck getting your Kerry Gold in the utopian future........LOVE KLAUS!

Up to 41,000 cows could be culled to meet nitrates derogation levels

Up to 41,000 cows could be slaughtered in the next 10 weeks as a result of changes to Ireland’s nitrates derogation, a Fine Gael politician has claimed.

Cork South West Senator Tim Lombard, a farmer, has said an “animal welfare catastrophe” will occur if Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue does not intervene.

Earlier this month, the minister published the final implementation map which showed most of the country remains included in the zoned area, which will come into effect in the new year.
Ireland's derogation agreement with the European Commission allowed a minority of more intensively stocked farmers to produce 250kg per hectare.
However, because of the water quality issues, the limit for Irish derogation farmers will now fall to 220kg per hectare from the first of January.
Farmers affected will have three ways to meet the reduced limits on nitrates. These include reducing animal numbers, increasing the amount of land they have, or finding someone to take slurry from their holdings.
Mr Lombard said the farming sector estimates that 41,000 cows, many who are in calf, will have to be slaughtered.

Well there's plenty of real butter brands to tide me over if there's a Kerry shortage. Maybe i'll just start making my own :ROFLMAO:

They dont do anything like that. People do it to themselves.
Everyone has always had a choice.

I agree, but they do make the garbage easily accessible, tasty, and cheap. It doesn't help this food pyramid bullshit is pushed.

But again I agree on the personal responsibility part. There's enough information for people to know better than to consume mass amounts of sugar.

Yes, sugar, and carbs are cheap, and they are like a drug. So every place loads up their food with it.

The food pyramid wasnt completely wrong, it was already a bit out dated and peace time America wasnt who it was intended for.
The problems with it was no one followed it anyway, and everyone ate more than they needed.

The food pyramid wasnt completely wrong,
What they programmed into us from youth as a "pyramid" eventually told me all I need to know about the poison diet. Dine on a bunch of kale and a lot of other vegetable and fruit "super foods" like they recommended and your diet is packed with pesticides. You wind up being gay or lacking grip strength.

God, I miss beer

I eat super dark chocolate. Is that a problem for celiac?
No. Most chocolate is fine. Even Reeses Cups are OK from a 'grain' perspective. Grains that my body rejects due to an auto-immune disease like Celiac include: wheat, barley, malt and rye (the big 4 anyway). And I was just starting to get into rich, full, flavorful wheat beers  :(

Most corn, rice, potato, oats, etc are cool. They just don't make for the best bread/pizza :dunno:

And I have only found a handful of gluten free beers that are tolerable. Glutenburg and Red Barn I think it is. Ommission Light is OK, but it is 'crafted to remove gluten' which is not the same. That said, I have never gotten sick drinking it.

I've moved onto Gin and Tonic (Diet 7up) as my primary goto - but I know diet soda is not good for you either :(

If you follow it you'll be sick.

That massive section at the bottom where they want you to eat mostly bread, cereal, rice, and pasta IS TOTAL BS, and it's killing people.

Humans evolved in east Africa, there were no bakeries, no pasta shops. You know what they had? Animals, and they ate the whole thing fat, and all.
Probably just a portion was vegetation, berries, seed, etc..

Eat closer to what early humans were eating, and you'll be healthier, that's what your body needs to run properly.

Now all that being said, I'm not a conspiracy guy, or anti/pro gov. I just know the results I've had over the years, and the results of everyone I've turned on to this.

Kale is very good. Get organic, or grow your own. It grows fast, and easy.

Now the bottom portion of the pyramid is a DEATH trap.

Luckily, me being diagnosed with Celiac Disease, means that bread and most fast food is out (and beer sadly). :(

My biggest vice would be chocolate.
Beer is not out. Look for Lakefront Brewery New Grist Pilsner(it is a nice Pale ale) It tastes like a good beer. If you like the darker beers look for Glutenberg Red beer, they also have an amber and pilsner that's good too. The Red is a very good dark beer. I drink them when I feel like a beer and no issues they are certified gluten free. I have been a celiac since the early 90's when no one even doctors knew how or what to test for, they just kept saying how rare it was and how I probably didn't have it....well...they were wrong. Now alot of people have it which makes alot more food and drink items compared to the 90's and early 2000's.

The Pizza mix from Breads from Anna was the absolute best pizza mix and bread mixes, it rose well and made a nice crust that wasn't too dense and it tasted excellent. I bought it exclusively for the last 4 years but the company had a hard time sourcing ingredients and could hire staff during covid so they just shut down. I've since tried the Bobs Redmill mix and it's pretty good but it is more dense and doesn't taste as good but it does rise and isn't hard as a rock at all it stays fairly moist and it's easy to prepare. I'm still messing around with it trying to make it somewhat close tot he Breads From Anna brand.....man that lady had a killer GF flour mix........I'm going to miss her company!

Canyon Bakehouse out of Colorado makes the best ready made bread out there IMHO, taste's like bread and every type has been good. Some are in the freezer and some packed in nitorgen packages. I prefer the frozen bread myself, it's more fresh.

They also had to go out and risk their lives to hunt for food without guns. Too much fat and carbs is never a good thing, but I’d say they are much less detrimental to someone busting their hump all day against the average office worker that sits at a desk then goes home and watches Netflix

I'm sure if they had guns they would have used them 🤷‍♂️

As for too much fat, well when my labs came back perfect ( for the first time a few years ago) my Dr. asked what I did. I said I ate a bunch of fatty red meat, cut carbs, and sugar. His eye got big, and he said tell me all about it. LOL

You can eat the fuck out of fat, as long as you're not pumping in carbs, or sugar. How does this work? Well Carbs, and sugar can be immediately converted into energy.

You still with me?

Alright, so if you have a daily intake of carbs/sugar, your body will use it for energy instead of converting fat for energy.
When your body encounters fat, it just stores it, in anticipation for the winter months.

Now if you remove that constant intake of carbs/sugar, your body in the matter of about a week or two changes metabolic state.
The new state is called ketosis, this is where it burns fat for fuel/energy.

Bam, Problem solved!

So FAT is very important in this metabolic state.

Whether the food pyramid was right or wrong, people didnt follow it anyway.
Stop blaming something that no one followed for the reason everyone is fat and sick.
If people stopped looking for something to blame and were honest, they could at least have a laugh about being dumbasses and do something about it.

I eat a lot of carbs but I dont eat shit food. Complex carbs are different to simple carbs.
My diet is nothing like the average American diet even though it is generally a high carb diet. I did blood and urine work last week, all the health markers are excellent. Ive never been over 16% bodyfat and am currently under 13%. Carbs are good.

How's this? Proper nutrition is a case by case basis...... :dunno:

Yeah they probably walked 10-16miles a day, carried shit around while doing it. Probably had to run some distance each day. They wouldve spent far more time with their heart rate in zone 2. They were probably smaller but had a higher percentage of muscle mass and a lower percent of body fat.

People like to romanticize early diet of hunters and gatherers. Truth would be closer to it being highly variable and season dependent.
They would sucked down a lot of raw honey, eaten lots of tubers etc, lots of carbs some days. Other days they might just eat meat and some berries.

I never made that the reason why people are sick. But if you eat mostly bread, pasta, grains, and cereal, as it tells you to do, especially the processed stuff that is over abundant you're fucked

Complex carbs are clearly better, but most people don't know any better.
