So @Smash post the other day put me on a kick listening to Necrophagist Epitaph, an album I hadn’t listened to in quite a while… such a legendary album. I thought about the production and what it would’ve sounded like with some modern gear and more boutique amps than just an old Engl preamp.

Anyway, I tried recording the intro of epitaph with my Monomyth skeleton key, what I could remember of it anyway... been a long time since I learned it. This is in C standard, because that’s what my guitar is set up in. I Imported the midi from guitar pro on the bass and drums then routed them through submission audio bass, and superior drummer. Enjoy the ridiculousness. If you don’t like technical death metal… this won’t be your thing. If the file doesn’t load click the arrow in the corner.

I like Epitaph as-is. I think it could have used a more solid production, however.

That is awesome.

Yeah that sounds great. Id take that over Necrophagist production for sure. My only quam would be that sound kind of set them apart and didnt sound like anyone else at the time from what I've heard.

Also I know sometimes my uploads are a pain with having to do one whole extra click, but Google drive has the best quality.

I need to get down to san antonio to try that monomyth. I havent played one since my old 1987 modded blood and thunder

What they did on epitaph won’t be topped by the new gen tech bands from what I’ve heard anytime soon

Sounds great . Bont knock on the original tone . The smoothness gives it a great unique tone

Not knocking at all, one of my favorite albums.

Wish we got to hear the third that supposedly is just lying around Muhammad’s house on a hard drive lol

Monomyth stuff is gnarly for sure. I think I like my modded vintage modern over my skeleton key shockingly. Idk though

I didn't bond too well with the Monomyth mod I had. I had a sweet honeymoon, but realized it wasn't really my jam. That amp helped me to realize that I am a bit more into a more pushed marshall sound than an all out metal amp.
