i was a bit bummed when i learned those big 80s snares were in fact not recorded in a castle and its really just some white noise with reverb ?

The white noise thing was more of a very late 80’s early 90’s thing. They certainly were using some nice big rooms back then. But some of the classic 80’s records are a drum machine too. ?‍
