What a bunch of morons.

Dude, I'm so happy you have those three guitars right now. So awesome!! Now you can appreciate them even more.

I know I'm going to end up getting a USA Wolfgang. I'm getting a twitch....LOL! If I didn't have my Chubtone being built, I'd probably already be knuckles deep in EVH memorabilia.....Hahaha

I’ve been looking at another Peavey USA special for a while. Doesn’t look great right now. Just craziness. Pretty sad, if not predictable.

I really like the look of he EVH Sassafras limited, but $1399 for a MIM just doesn’t work for me. Plus I’ve had MIM versions and I know I’d be looking at a pickup change anyway. So add some more $.

Remember when USA Peavey Specials could be had for $500???

Yep, I think I got mine for like $700 and like a dumbass, got rid of it.

Why would the EBMM EVHs and Peavey Wolfs be crazy expensive now? They haven't been produced for many years. They're not getting any rarer. The Fender/EVH stuff will continue to get cranked out for as far as the eye can see. It's already been announced that the brand will continue. Who the hell has to have one today? I don't get it. I have two EBMM EVHs, an Axis and a Fender/EVH Wolf. Not selling, not buying. Anyone who thinks they have to have it today because EVH passed away is an idiot. But I'm fine with those prices skyrocketing because of such idiots. Still never selling.

I have a 95 pre production non serialized peavey Wolfgang amber quilt. I will never sell it, but have recently been offered insane amounts for it by some good friends. I wanted to mod it to look like the not enough guitar but may leave it be as a tribute to EVH. The prices for his gear new or used though are outrageous !

"I'll take the Mexican Wolfgang for $1400 Alex".
You'll never catch me paying $800-1200+ for a Mexican or Chinese guitar no matter who jacked on it.

But that guitar (very cool BTW) was a unicorn 15 years ago. Why would anyone think it's worth more now? It's not like Ed was about to quit Fender and go back to Peavey and re-release those old Wolfgangs. Unless EVH/Fender announces they're discontinuing this or that model soon, nothing but Ed's personal autograph on guitars is going to get rarer than it already is.

I am thinking about grabbing a Wolfgang Standard. I would like a more higher quality one, but that is the only model with the nice body contours. Lack of forearm cuts have always been my issue with the Wolfgangs.

I was thinking about grabbing a Charvel, but playing both back to back a few weeks ago, I like the neck of the EVH better. Kinda sucks now though, as they are sold out everywhere.

Ed could play whatever he picked-up. EVH signiture gear was/is a business, nothing more. If you really want to be like Ed, build your own guitar.

I took the liberty of spamming the seller in the last link. That one seemed to be the worst of the bunch. The description was amusing in the sense of how absurd it was.

Not trying to go too much on a tangent here, but the other side of that coin is that Peavey isn't making any more Wolfgangs. So the Peavey Wolfgang, like the EBMM EVH, is a discontinued model that can no longer be bought new. So right there, the guitars are more rare. These guitars also represent points in time.

For instance, in 1996, Ed recorded Human's Being and the two new songs with DLR, the last two songs to feature the original lineup. This is right when the Wolfgang came out. That was a pretty special time and Ed was playing like a monster. Secondly, and of course this is purely subjective, the case could be made that his 1995-1996 ears were better/less worn than his 2005-onward ears. This same case can be made across the whole spectrum, of course, from 1978-now. You can also throw in the 5150 vs. the II vs. the III, etc.

This is completely unfounded, but I would tend to think the younger Ed stuff would be more desirable than the later stuff as he was much more active and in his prime. Simple economics says that there is and will be supply of EVH brand guitars, but there is no new supply of EBMM and Peavey EVH guitars, so the longer time goes on, they should increase in price. Think of the price difference between a 1969 Marshall Plexi vs. a 1969 Marshall metal panel. Same amp, plexiglas panel vs. metal.

MYLISS congrats on scoring a pre-prod Wolfgang. I'm not sure how you did that but that's very cool. I am the original owner of a purple quilt and it's not going anywhere, either. Waited 11 months to get that guitar--ordered when they were first announced.

EVH's death hit me as hard, as well, and I can see the anger against folks trying to get insane prices on gear simply by exploit. I may not agree with it but definitely saw it coming.

Peavey is producing the Wolfgang model. I don't recall its new designation, but they do make that guitar. Best part is, it doesn't have the EVH signature on it. Some may want that, others not. I'm not into signature gear. Not unless it's my own. :)

That's the one! The few that I've seen looked good.

Holy shit, really? Wow, that blows me away man. That means I'll really like an EVH when I get it since I'm a huge fan of Charvel necks. It is a good thing if they are on par.

Yeah, I wish EVH would take advantage of this and ramp up production. We'll eventually get one. :)

I would say the EVH are similar to newer Charvels in terms of feel and finish. That raw wood feeling, etc.... However, the EVH necks are narrower, slightly fatter, and rounder. It is like if you took a Charvel neck and squeezed it at the top and bottom, and it bunched up in the middle, lol.

I have a Charvel So-Cal I have had for years, and thought about a DK-2pt. However, I like the narrower feel of the EVH necks. I always liked the Wolfgang guitars, but can't deal with no forearm contour. The new cheap Wolfgang Standards have nicer contours, even though they got the cheaper trem. I am hoping that wont matter as much since they are dive only.

The other EVH necks like the striped series and 5150 series have wider necks, so they are probably more comparable directly to Charvel.

sad and a bit disrespectful in my opinion
I agree 100% sad
I would also have to agree with this. It is disrespectful, especially to the vh family and friends who are mourning, and experiencing great loss at this time.
