Looking for something to load mp3s on and slow down to learn licks. Possibly play the guitar through as well. What's out there these days?

If you use WinAmp on Windows, look up the Pacemaker Plugin. You can slow down tracks as well as change pitch.

Thanks :) , but I'm Mac. I was hoping for a stand alone device. Getting tired of rewinding the 8track

A couple years ago, I bought Tascam GT-1 Guitar trainer for those blistering licks. It's worked really well for me! Slows the tunes down, speeds 'em up, changes pitch, EQ to brings the guitar tracks to the for-front and doubles as a pocket practice amp with a built in metronome and effects. But like I say, that was a while back and I'm sure they've upgraded the concept several times over since. Happy hunting, and nail those "impossible" solos down!

I use iRehearse on my Mac. It's probably the most important piece of software that I own...as a jobbing musician and teacher. It's extremely easy to use and works great for slowing down, looping, and changing the pitch of tracks.

The Tascam MP-GT1 is an AWESOME choice. I have had mine for a while now, plays mp3's and slows down tracks, changes or maintains pitch, has a mix level for your guitar to play along with the mp3, has built-in distortion, delay, flange, verb, etc., even has a looping function to go over and over the same part to nail it.

It's a little wider than a Droid X phone and obviously thicker. Headphone output and USB to hookup to your computer. A pretty amazing unit, but not sure if you can buy them new anymore. I would google it and also try eBay.

My 2 cents :D

If you have an iPad or iPhone, download Anytune or Amazing Slow Downer. They will pull any track from your iTunes and slow it down however much you want.

Riffmaster Pro, pitch, looping, and they have Mac and pc versions.

Yup... I've been using the Amazing Slow-Downer a lot. Great tool!

Just last week, we launched a major upgrade of our Anytune Pro HQ Slow Downer app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. We do not have a desktop version at this time.

We got a great review from Damian Erskine at No Treble:

There is a short feature overview video on YouTube:

A free version of Anytune is available, but has several limitations vs the paid versions.

We have also done up a comparison of Anytune to ASD (yes, you know where the bias is) ;)

Oh, and if you got this far, as a thank you here are some promo codes for our mid-level version - Anytune Pro.

+1

Been using this for years.

I have the Amazing Slow Downer and Transcribe on my Mac.
I prefer Transcribe but I use both. They both will play audio from videos. Transcribe goes a step further and plays the video as well. It's great because you can slow dow the video and watch dem dare fingers.

Anytune HD Pro for iPad fan right here. Stunning quality at the slowest speeds and great interface.
Thanks for the great product Sean!

Anytune HD Pro on my iPad 3 and iPhone is awesome.

I also have Capo on my iMac and that's very good.

JamVox 3.01 for the Mac & PC is also great. High quality slowdown, looping , pitch change , tuner ,metronome, and drum tracks. This also has a bunch of amps & effects and you can record. You can also import any mp3 or wav etc.... and set markers at different parts in the track so JamVox will do auto patch changes for you! Great all in one practicing/jamming tool.
