I have the Amazing Slow Downer and Transcribe on my Mac.
I prefer Transcribe but I use both. They both will play audio from videos. Transcribe goes a step further and plays the video as well. It's great because you can slow dow the video and watch dem dare fingers.

Been a Transcribe user for years, it is a great piece of software.

Anytune HD Pro for iPad fan right here. Stunning quality at the slowest speeds and great interface.
Thanks for the great product Sean!

Thank you for the kind words. We spent over 6 months building the Anytune 3 update. Many of the features and the UI redesign were based directly on customer feedback.

If you have an iThing, Anytune is great. Jamup and Amplitube also have rudimentary slow-downers built in. Jamup's being much better than Amplitubes. Jamup is on sale for $10 right now. Got an Apogee Jam on the way today - looking forward to playing with that. Man, if we had these slow-downers when I was a kid I would have been happier than a pig in shit...and probably able to play by now LOL.

Just last week, we launched a major upgrade of our Anytune Pro HQ Slow Downer app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. We do not have a desktop version at this time.

We got a great review from Damian Erskine at No Treble:

There is a short feature overview video on YouTube:

A free version of Anytune is available, but has several limitations vs the paid versions.

We have also done up a comparison of Anytune to ASD (yes, you know where the bias is) ;)

Oh, and if you got this far, as a thank you here are some promo codes for our mid-level version - Anytune Pro.
First come, first serve! Please post if you successfully redeem a code so no one bothers to try again once a code is gone.

Another vote for Anytune if you have an iPhone. Get the HD version. Well worth it and the clarity is awesome. Would love a desktop version as well.

We've had a number of musicians ask us about a desktop version, but our focus is on the iPhone and iPad for the immediate future. We've got a few more ideas we're cooking up for our next few releases of Anytune that we'd like to get done. After that, we'll see where it takes us.

Admittedly, if you've got an iPhone rather than an iPad the experience is quite different. The functionality is all the same, but Anytune does take advantage of the extra screen space that the iPad offers over the iPhone.

Is there something that you'd like to be able to accomplish with a desktop-based slow downer beyond what can currently be done on an iPad or iPhone?

Looking for something to load mp3s on and slow down to learn licks. Possibly play the guitar through as well. What's out there these days?
