A ton of Covid out there’: US summer wave not taken seriously enough – experts

Epidemiologists push newly approved booster vaccines as current virus strain threatens at-risk groups

nfectious disease experts say many people are not taking the latest Covid-19 wave in the US seriously enough and are not getting vaccinated or using antiviral drugs when sick, despite a summer wave that was larger and came earlier than anticipated.

Epidemiologists are saying that while symptoms of this wave are more mild than earlier strains, the virus remains a threat – particularly for older adults and people with underlying health conditions.

In response, public health officials are urging people to get a booster now – unless they recently had Covid, in which case they should wait three to four months – and to take a rapid test when sick. And if they have Covid, they should ask their doctors about antiviral treatments.

“There is a ton of Covid out there,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, an epidemiologist and director of the Pandemic Center at the Brown University School of Public Health. “If you’re experiencing any kind of symptoms, test yourself because you might benefit from getting medicine. At the very least, you can learn that you’re infected and stay home so you don’t give it to other people.”

Notably, the Covid viral activity in wastewater in August in the United States was almost twice as high as the same time last year and about the same as the peak of summer 2023, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. Still, hospitalizations and deaths are a fraction of what they were in 2022.

“Every time someone gets sick, there is always a risk involved, but the fact that we haven’t seen a massive upswing in hospitalizations or deaths is what ultimately we look at because this virus isn’t going away,” Nuzzo said.

Just saw one of my specialists......she said 5 of her patients have died of covid this year....just like influenza: it can still kill.

Not sure I want any more boosters, but she does recommend them.

Vaccines are the ultimate medical grift akin to cigarettes cause you get lifetime customers except vaccines don't go good with Maxwell House breakfast blend the way a Camel non filter does. Not even close. I expect nothing less from people whose most recognizable logo is the caduceus and whose oath has it's origins in paganism. Bad trees can't bear good fruit.

I bet 4 of those died because of the boosters, they destroy your immune system.

If you are even thinking about getting one, listen to the interview on Redacted yesterday.

I just looked for it and its gone, that's not fishy at all.

My town had a pretty good run of it a month or two ago. Several coworkers had it and our pediatrician was pretty slammed by it. Thankfully people aren’t really dying from it anymore though

I am sorry but, you have to be crazy if you got that jab, it's like a ticking time bomb.

If your doctors suggests getting it, find a new doctor.

The couple people I know of that got it this summer were people who hadn't caught a case before.

There is no real test for Coovid
They are still using PCR.....even though the guy who invented the process says it was not meant to diagnose anything in anyone, it was a lab tool only. Dr. Kary Mullis.

PCR tests are very accurate. The video posted about HIV does not go against that.
Incorrect, PCR tests are useless. There is no sample in existence of covid virus to compare with, like ALL other viruses.

And PCR tests can be manipulated to find anything.

You are misinformed, please educate yourself.

Lol

Just because they can be manipulated doesn’t make them inaccurate.
They are accurate and they will tell you if you have the virus in your body.

Seems to be going the way of pretty much any other virus. For the most part the more it mutates the more it weakens.
