I have a Diezel 4x12 Front loaded cab with v30's.

I wonder if it's possible to replace the v30's with the G12K100?

or should i just get the original Diezel 4x12 with G12K100?

Hi sickgoose,

sure the speakers can be replaced!

But I have a question - do you have the "new" made in germany" cab?

if not - you just have to get the new one with some speakers you like. These cabs are really great!

i have a 4x12 FL with v30 & g12k100
and one 2x12 RL vot v30.

The sound is the best you ever heard.

Yes i think I have the newest....but I am not sure

I have exact this one: http://www.guitarking.nl/index.php?4x12#

hmmmm...... V30's AND G12K100? in a "x"setup? or L/R?

Great idea!

I really like the v30's but i've heard some good things about the G12K100 too.

thanks!

I have the old one with the G12K100 and it sounds good to my ears  Best thing would be to compare it A-B... But I don`t know where all the different cabs stand in one room, except the Diezel-manufactory

Well......there is a huge difference in the cab itself between the old ones and the new ones sound wise. I always prefer the G12K100 speaker in the new front loaded Diezel cabinets. To me it is perfect. I am not a fan of v-30 speakers at all and dislike them even more in front loaded cabinets......especially ours. If you have an old cabinet design, I would say that you will get far more benefit out of the new design cabinet. If you already have a new one, the G12K100 will be a wonderful addition to that front loaded cabinet.

+1000 to what Terry said!!!

The old cabs sound great...but the new ones are in a league of their own. I even tried the X Pattern V30/G12K100 in the new one..and i went back to 4XG12K100's in about 20 minutes..the solder iron wasnt even cold yet!!

even more better sounding? ohmygod! Diezel rocks man

ill check on my cab

thx 4 the info guys!!!!!!

Just got the word: I hav a new cabinet made late 2008 early 2009........so i am gonna get myself tha G12K100 !!!!!!!!!!

here are two soundsamples where you can here the diff between just the speakers

NOT played with a Diezel cab btw...

V30 with Les paul :

G12K100 with Les paul:

great --> congrats

you´ll not regret it.

Just a little hint if only 2 speakers will be replaced. btw I did it that way. Don´t replace the speaker in X-pattern. It´s better to replace them vertical, so at recording-sessions it´s possilbe to use either the V30 or the g12k100 by using eiher the right or left side of the cab. More sound options!!!!

But that´s just my opinion!

So there is actually a difference in the "new" fl Diezel CABINETS as opposed to just the speakers? I was thinkin about buying a fl off of someone that had celestions and putting gk100s in it. So this WOULD NOT be the same as getting a new model? Design wise? 1600 is a lot of money!

Hey Rob
Yes... there is a huge difference. You should really talk to Terry about this. He would be able to explain to you the differences in depth. But the cab is def worth the dough. If i had the resources i would grab another one.

When we redesigned the Diezel cabinets we redesigned every single aspect of the cabinet top to bottom. The old Diezel cabinet is nothing like the new Diezel cabinet in any way. The materials used, design, EVERYTHING is very different from any other cab on the market. If you could compare side by side you would quickly and very easily notice this. It is night and day difference. The cabinet material costs are 6 times more expensive then the old design cabinets so in comparison it is a tremendous value. Once you hear the new cabinet, play through it and feel it all cost concerns go out the window....yes it is that good.

I would be happy to talk with you about everything and help you decide what is best for your sound and musical playing style etc. The feedback we have received from everybody using the cabs has been incredibly positive and price has never been mentioned as a negative. These cabinets are in the studio with some major artists and both the engineers and players love them for various reasons. We continually get told how well they record and sound as well as how versatile they are. The feedback received has covered a plethora of musical tastes and styles and the same response comes from each." They are so balanced, articulate, clear and pure and they can handle the low end....they mic extremely well and handle whatever you throw at them."

Hope this helps a bit. :)

Looking forward to having it on public stage next to our Afterburner 412B along with several other brands. The shoot-out is in the early planning stages and your new cab will be invited. There will be lots of writers, artists and producers in attendance along with a pro A/V crew. Should be fun to hear the differences in a big venue with 100Watts of tube amp pushing 10 on the master. We are planning on the VH4 being one of the demo heads.

SIX times more in material costs?!? I'm amazed you guys can sell the thing for "only" $1600. Ours is $959.00 factory direct. Best of luck to you.

More like $1,750 when you factor in shipping. ;)

Mills & Diezel are a great combination. Can't imagine it getting any better.

I agree 100% Matt. We've run tons of heads over the last few years but there is something "extra" with this rig.

Uh oh, looks like the challenge is on!

Dave - when/where is the shootout? I'd love to see and hear it. Any other details you can share?

Yeah. I'd love an unbiased, side-by-side comparison with between Mills and the New Diezel.

I ultimately bought the Mills instead of the new Diezel cab because I had a chance to play a Mills next to my old Diezel cab and Bogner Uberkab. The Mills won hands down. I still struggled with not getting the new Diezel cab - just because of all the positive hype about them. Plus the fact that the matching head/cab looks pretty damn good. Terry was cool enough to offer to buy back the cab if I didn't like it too. So the only risk was the shipping cost. In the end. I could get 2 Mills cabs for not much more than one Diezel cab. Plus the Mills was a sure thing - in that I knew I already loved the cab. Maybe someday I'll still get a new Diezel cab just for variety and to have a FL cab.

That would be awesome for sure

I wish an older Diezel FL could make it into the mix too. I really want to hear an unbiased side-by-side between the old and new Diezel FL cab with both having the same speakers, preferably all GK100's since that's what most recommend in the FL cab. Most everything I've read had people going from the old cab w/V30's to the the new one with GK100's or GK100xV30. Of course there will a be huge difference there. This is going to be the only way to really showcase what impact the change in construction has on the tone.

Most likely it will coincide with a NAMM show next winter or summer. Can't give much details yet but the magazines we're talking with want to make it a "blind" test where you don't know the identities until the results are in. We agree with this approach and think it needs to be purely based on performance and not "brand loyalty" of any kind. Since our advertising budget is basically zero, these kinds of A/B demos are where our sales and endorsements come from. We look forward to it VERY much. Once all details are worked out, there will be plenty of advance notice as to location, schedule and so forth. And I'd imagine there will be lots of press and magazine coverage as well. After all, that's kind of the point. They compare amps, guitars, effects even picks on a regular basis. I'd say it's time for this approach with the Cab as well.

As to an A/B of Diezel's old design vs. their new one...seems to me they'd do this demo on their own and put it out there publicly. If we had a significant improvement to our own current design, we would. When the event gets confirmed, I'm sure those invited will be asked to deliver their best production model. We'll be taking ours. Like I said, it should be fun.
