Diezel 4x12 cab : V30 or G12K100?

So.......i replaced the V30's from my DiezelFL4x12cab with te G12k100....connecting (2x) the 2x16 output from my VH4S in to the cab.........................IT F**** ROCKSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me so happy..........

well.....

I have a VH4-S (2004) with the 6L6 tubes. Recently i got myself the new, German design, front loaded 4x12 Diezel cabinet with the Celestions Vintage 30's.....This cabinet, even loaded with te V30's, sounds absoluut AMAZING! but.......

The problem i had was when walking around the stage while playing, i kinda lost my bottom end and the high freq sounded somewhat 'spikey'. When i stood near the amp it sounded fantastic again. .....So i did the research and ended up with the Celestions G12k-100 (thanks to Peter Stapfer!)

I hooked up the amp (witch is stereo) to the cabinet using the (2x) 2x8 Ohm output:
This sounded NOT good, the response was kinda flat and hars sounding.

I hooked up the amp to the cabinet using the (2x) 2x16 Ohm output:
This sounded amazing….brutal…dynamic…responese.

so now with the G12K-100 loaded:
- The spikey highs are totally gone.
- The mids are more full “rounder” sounding
- The lows and especially the bottom end is really amazing.

No matter where I stood in the room, the dynamics where in my face all the time. At one point I even had to turn the amp volume down and still could hear all details in the highs mids and lows. The bottom end “thump” with these speakers is really incredible…..The speakers still have to “break in’’ but sounded amazing even at this stage of speaker stiffness…..

The G12k-100 speakers with the FL 4x12 cab really brings you in to an other dimension.
Now….my next goal is to get myself a Diezel RL 4x12 cab with….the V30’s and use both cabs is a stereo setup…..aaaaaaaaaarh I cant wait!

What Peter Stapfer says in this video interview is totally true!!!!!!!

I realize this is bumping an old thread, but I just felt compelled to chime in. I very recently had the opportunity to play a VH4 through one of the new German-made Diezel FL 4x12 cabs (w/ G12-K100's). I was SHOCKED at how good it sounded. I truly mean that. I'm absolutely NOT one to buy into hype nor even consider spending $16-1700 dollars for a speaker cab (seems ridiculous to me and so much snake-oil), but this changed my mine. It's extremely difficult to put into words as sound is such a subjective thing and generally hard to describe. The only thing I can say is try one and you'll very likely be convinced. Is it worth the money?? That's up to the individual to decide, but I'd wager that no one who tries one would say it isn't a remarkable sounding cabinet that is head and shoulders above others, including previous iterations of Diezel cabs.

Thanks for the sincere and kind words.

Well......there is a huge difference in the cab itself between the old ones and the new ones sound wise. I always prefer the G12K100 speaker in the new front loaded Diezel cabinets. To me it is perfect. I am not a fan of v-30 speakers at all and dislike them even more in front loaded cabinets......especially ours. If you have an old cabinet design, I would say that you will get far more benefit out of the new design cabinet. If you already have a new one, the G12K100 will be a wonderful addition to that front loaded cabinet.

You know, I think it's great Diezel makes good stuff. But these types of comments coming directly from Diezel has dropped the resale value of my old cabs to shit!!! I can't give these things away. Thanks a lot!

It's too bad we couldn't trade these things in to Diezel to upgrade at a discount. How much is a new cab $9899.99?

Uh oh, looks like the challenge is on!

Dave - when/where is the shootout? I'd love to see and hear it. Any other details you can share?

Yeah. I'd love an unbiased, side-by-side comparison with between Mills and the New Diezel.

I ultimately bought the Mills instead of the new Diezel cab because I had a chance to play a Mills next to my old Diezel cab and Bogner Uberkab. The Mills won hands down. I still struggled with not getting the new Diezel cab - just because of all the positive hype about them. Plus the fact that the matching head/cab looks pretty damn good. Terry was cool enough to offer to buy back the cab if I didn't like it too. So the only risk was the shipping cost. In the end. I could get 2 Mills cabs for not much more than one Diezel cab. Plus the Mills was a sure thing - in that I knew I already loved the cab. Maybe someday I'll still get a new Diezel cab just for variety and to have a FL cab.

I SECOND THIS!!!

Hold on.... I know of a few folks who'd very much like to have your old Diezel cabs. They are premium cabs that hold their own and/or best most others. Do they compare with the new German made ones? well, no. But that doesn't mean the old ones are now worthless or less than almighty next to just about any other cab out there.

Oh, and I'd add that Terry wasn't demeaning the old cabs by his commentary, merely suggesting the new ones are better and that the G12-K100's are a much nicer speaker that pair exceptionally well with the new designs. I can personally attest to this as I've got one of the new ones now and it is tonal nirvana!

i agree. I still have my old Diezel cab...and i wont get rid of it. Its a different tone...but still toasts alot of the other cabs on the market in a heartbeat. The used cab market is tough these days. Maybe has sumthing to do with this piss poor economy!

Yup. I'd love to have one of the old 2x12 cabs though. Of course, I also want another new 4x12 AND a new 2x12 but.... ;-)

I got mine earlier this year.i believe it was from the 1st or 2nd batch to arrive in the USA.

Ok. Damn, then i got the old ones, that are supposed to sound worse!
Now guys, keep this quiet alright ;)

Sound worse??? Thats being a tad harsh. Those old Diezel cabs sound better to me than about 98% of any cabinet on the market. I love mine. I wouldnt say it sounds worse than the other...just not as good. So no need to worry. If you are that distraught over it, order a new one and you will have 2 awesome cabs!!
