Tubes are all jj's, biased to 65. preamp is also jj, with phase inverter balanced.

Sounds alright to me from that standpoint. Let us know how the Einstein testing goes...

Yeah.... see if you can find a cab with v30s. The Einstein *should* sound great with all controls at 12 o'clock, with tweaking to taste.

I've got JJs in my Mesa Recto, they sound OK, but I put a set of SED EL34s in the Einstein & it blew me away.

I think you guys are selling the mark iv way short. If you are searching for a LEAD tone to match the marks, you are going to be searching for a while. The Diezel stuff has a better rock/heavy rhythm tone but there isnt much that touches the creamy thick lead tone of a mark iv. It is what keeps me playing the amp. Sorry diezel guys.....

Ill have mine back in 4 days, well see...but so far...I have yet to hear a good lead tone outside of mode 2.

Try this for a lead tone in o'clock's. Gain:12:00, Volume: a little under 3:00, Bass:1:00, Mid: 4:00, Treb:10:00, Presence:2-2:30-ish, Deep: little after noon(between the e and p on the word deep), Master from 9 to 10 o'clock.

This is actually my Herbert's lead channel, it's very creamy and smooth, but I've played every Diezel available in the states and this is usually close to what I get with all of them, the VH4 I flatten the eq out a little more though, not much though, bass maybe a little more for it.

Hope it helps,

-Nick

EDIT: To add, if you're finding it fuzzy and are using JJ exclusive, that might just be your problem. The ECC83 is cool in v-1 but not much anywhere else. If your using E34L's it will also be alot fuzzier/can of bees then stock, as well I'd imagine one hell of a tubby lowend with an all JJ preamp because just changing v-1 gives you a massive low end boost, you could probably still get a good tone out of this but not what you're looking for, not sure though because I've never tried ALL JJ's just the power and v-1 all at once.

The Diezel Custom speakers aren't made anymore. Peter S. told me about them getting worse and worse so that he decided to stop ordering them. He now uses V30 and G12K-100. I really recommend the combination of both. The G12K-100 alone might sound to linear and some might call it sterile. The V30 adds some nice mids without overpowering the G12K100 with its spiky high mid and not so nice highs.
I recently got myself one of the new cabs with this combination. Amazing sound!

Happy to hear this. I've just ordered a TubeTown 2x12 cab with a single V30 and bought a used G12H-100 to pair with the V30. The G12K-100 is essentially the same speaker as the G12H-100 but with a bit more low end, according to Celestion). I've previously tried a G12H-100 combined with V30 but each were in their own cabinets. It sounded great so I expect it will sound great in the same cabinet too.
