What someone said before: mids.

Find the frequency that you can just sit slightly below or above the other guy's mid peak, and then add more of that frequency. Scooping mids doesn't work in bands with 2 guitars. You should try reducing bass content in your sound, and then play with both, treble and mids to get these frequencies cut.
