Hallo all,

I'm new here... I currently own a Boogie Mark IV, but I'm shifting over to Diezel (As soon as I sell some stuff! Buy my stuff in the classifieds sections God damn it!), and I'm looking at the Einstein in particular.

It all seems perfect for what I want, except you can't change between channel 1's modes via footswitch. I hear there's a mod for this? Anybody know of anyone in the UK who does it, and if so does Peter Diezel "allow" it? Or will it ruin my warranty?

Cheers!

Ok, just had a read through, my German is limited, but I believe I'd need the Einstein Roadie (Or Master Roadie? Differences?). There's no way I could do this myself, so how would I go about getting this "tubelit" guy to do it? Ship my amp to him?

Thanks again.

Thats the easiest way, yes.

I could build you a pedal ( may take some weeks though, I'm pretty busy at the moment) - if you are able to unhook the 4 Ohm jack and solder three wires from a stereo jack to the frontplate-switch yourself.

You know, I really don't think it could

I'll wait till I actually BUY an Einstein before I think about modding it!

thanks!

My buddy had his down by are amp tech here in pittsburgh and it works fantastic,I am going to have mine done as well.

herbie ,
i had an einstein with the tubelit mod done from brand new - it worked ok , but the volumes of the modes are mismatched making it a pretty useless excercise really .
if i were you i wouldnt bother with the mod at all... just buy a vh4 instead .

Which is so true, but ch1/mode 2 is awesome - and a good fx unit in the loop can fix the difference ;)

Still a VH4 is a trademark masterpiece.

Sorry, I don't understand - can you explain further?

Cheers

A midi controlled multi fx gives you the option to adjust the volume levels with each patch. If you switch channels/modes and masters (lets say with a G-Major) you'll be able to control the volume differences of the modes with different patches by setting the loudness of your fx unit indiviually to each mode.

Right,I am doing that with a rocktron multivalve and it works, ..this is now a 4 channel amp with 2 master volumes, all controlled via midi..

so a simple amp, not so many controls, with 4 killer sounds and more time to play instead of tweaking knobs!!

Damn, you got me wanting a VH4 now...

So is the VH4's Channel 1-3 the same as Einstein's 3 modes on channel 1?

nope

two VERY dif. animals

i have the mod and it works awesome, i choose a nice rock sound on mode 2, can boost it woth mode 3 and when i want a nice dirty clean sound i just turn back the vol knob on my guitar, then i adjust the volume for channel 2 and everythings perfect !

I'm concerned with this post, as I am seriously contemplating getting an Einstein, and having the mod performed. The 3 modes must be footswitchable for my current situation.

Has anyone else had this volume issue with their mod?

Is there a way to level it out while performing the mod? The effects loop-midi fix seems not very elegant, would rather not go that route.

A VH4 runs about $1000 more than an Einstein, or I'd get one...

Well,

yes, there is a volume issue, for me especially between mode 1 (clean) and the mode 2 (crunch); I use a clean boost (Z-Vex Box of Rock or RC-Booster) when using the clean mode. I managed to get the three modes working, using the mod-pedal.
As Peter said, it is actually a two channel amp, what is right, but you can get it managed to switch the 3 modes on channel 1 by pedal, quite reasonable.
But I think, you can not make it a 4 channel amp.

Best wishes
eddie

Is there a volume difference switching between the 3 modes if you use the physical switch on the amp?
