Bumping a thread with steve k and dan. RIP brothers

August 2013 a time of innocence...i had just shipped a cab to brad king for consignment, that he conveniently decided was his instead of selling it

also decided he did not need to notify me of the decision....lol what a time to be alive!

Ironically i was also in the process of selling my Dmoll to a forum member! Did not like that amp personally, i'd go VH4 if that's an option.

Had a VH4. Sold it. Regret it. Want another! But now I hear how close ch. 2 on the Dmoll is to ch. 3 on the VH. Any opinions would help me decide.
Not close at all...I've owned and compared both. I love Diezels, but was not a huge fan of the D-Moll. If you are looking for that rounder, more saturated, polished tone, i would recommend the Herbert. That amp does everything the D-Moll can do, but much better. Just my thoughts. Also the latest revision of the VH4 is superior to previous incarnation. Particularly in channels 2 and 4.

Resurrecting this thread to see other experiences with the D Moll over the last decade. I had a chance to try one last week and really liked it. Ironically reminded me of the SLO a bit lower gain.

I know a fantastic gent who wants my BE100 and has offered $ to complement the deal, his amp is as clean as mine.

Decisions….
It did a mean scooped metal tone very well, and that was it, so she's gone, traded for a X88 IR then a M Zero with GZ Mod, have to say the Mezzabarba Is epic
for my playing style

Probably the VH tones will get you there, I only had the D Moll and Hagen, but really Loved the Hagen a lot, sounds like my M Zero under my fingers

Thanks everyone for the replies. Any other D Moll experiences out there I'm all ears.

The one I played sounded good, thought it was my first run at a Diezel. And it's not the same D as the gentleman's who is looking at my amp.

This thread is so old I think I’ve had two VH4s since. One modded one not (newest version)

Maybe,

Used market is fairly stagnant / broken / not much moving. I'm totally happy with my amps, but my BE 100 is my most redundant flavor. Easy solution presented itself and just double checking myself before looking for a slightly different flavor.

I saw RATT play at least 15 times growing up and remember being blown away at the sound the couple times I saw him with Diezel's, so maybe the VH4 is the hit I'm looking for. I'm not interested in the heavier sounds (TOOL, etc) the VH is known for, I'm more of a marshall flavor looking for spices to mix up the marshall vibe. (like the SLO30, which is still my favorite amp I currently own)

I’ve owned two D-Molls, as well as a VH4, Hagen, and Einstein. I love the D-Moll. For the tones I like, I preferred it over the other ones. I’m determined to own a Herbert next to see if it really is a “tighter, better” D-Moll.

FWIW…I had the Herbert as well. Really really don’t like it. Huge lows but synthetic sounding.

Dude totally get it, if it was channel 3 of the VH4 you were after you could also check out the VH2. That’s supposed to be just channel 1 and 3 from VH4 in a box…unsure if it’ll do channel 2 though
