Can anybody tell me their experiences with them, bridge p/u in particular? Clips on YT all sound wooly and fuzzy in a way and not much clarity. I have an LP with a super distortion and it sounds awesome. Looking for similar tone but with a little more mids and crunchier highs.

Paf pro wooly? It is crunchy and it cuts. Nice pup but I find it is slightly too compressed. I think it is the signature DiMarzio bridge tone as I always leaned more elsewhere because of that. 36 Anni are great though

I really like it in the bridge. It's bright and snappy. Kinda like a tighter, more modern PAF-type with more attack.

People often comment about its "aww" tone. I don't hear it, personally. While it is not as scooped as most PAF-types, it's definitely a lot more open EQ-wise than, say, a JB or a similarly hot pickup. I don't think it's a middy pickup at all.

Don't like it in the neck unless it's paired with another PAF Pro in the bridge. But not with hot pickups. I find it too bright with those.

Definitely not wooly. But I wouldn't say it has more mids than a Super Distortion whatsoever.

Had one in a basswood HSS strat that I unloaded about 10 years ago. Was awesome in that. Pretty punchy bass, chewy high end. A bit of a scooped sound with a mid range notch in it somewhere to give punch. Cool sound—miss selling that guitar.

Way better than a Duncan Custom I had in a bridge that I hated. Never played a JB bridge.

I have a Super D in the bridge in a strat now, and I’d say that’s more balanced and full (think VH) and the PAF is more scoops hair metal (RATT).

Yeah I should've stated in my initial post that I don't take YT clips as gospel, just as a reference. Thats why I'm asking you guys here who have actual experience with the pup for more solid feedback. So far the comments here make it seem close to what I want, which is good! 36 Annies are on my radar too. I like the Air Norton too but want to try something different.

PAF PRO was the standard for a lot of players in the 80's that did not use a JB, bright and snappy for sure nothing wooly about a PAF PRO...

I put one in the bridge of an Ibanez SA120 I had for a bit. I thought it was fucking awesome tbh; probably my overall fave Dimarzio I've ever tried

To me, this pretty much sums up the PAF Pro tone. I had a pair of them in an Ibanez RG470 in the early 90s.

I’ve always liked them, particularly in an ash-bodied Pacifica 912J. Very much an early Sambora-ish tone

Spot on. The Sambora strat I used to have came with a PAF pro in the bridge. I remember it being on the brighter side, but never shrill or piercing. Always cut through well.

Everybody has essentially said the same thing.. the compression is either something you like or don't ( I didn't) BUT the snap is undeniable. That's another good way to describe it, it snaps hard. I liked the voicing. But to me, the JB is it. Especially with a A2 thrown in.
