I am actually surprised. My X2N that I ordered just came in, and it doesn't look like it's running on triple ceramic magnets like the Black Winter.

Alright, so the X2N is in!

I expected it to be really bright based on some of you guys' comments. I was surprised to find it's actually darker than the Black Winter. Maybe not "darker", just has less upper mids going on, and more low-end and low-mid chunk.

It's a nice pickup, IMO. Kind of old-school. No super modern.

I like it!

I figured they were too hot to get a decent sound. Then I bought a guitar on eBay that had an X2N in the bridge. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It was an old one that had a chrome plated base plate and IIRC it had "X2N Power Plus" stamped into it.

I got rid of mine a couple of weeks ago. In the end, I hated it, LOL. It was so dark, dull, and bassy. It's actually the darkest high output pickup I've tried in a while. It's been ages since I tried the Invader, tho, so no direct comparison.

I heard the old ones had nickel baseplates rather than brass. I bet they'd have a little more sparkle up top.

I had one of the old ones and it had a decent amount of highs. Not dark at all.
