I've done some basic soldering before, but nothing like this - so it took me a couple of days to get it so that the switches I was stomping on were actually activating the channel they were supposed to (nothing like hitting a button labeled one thing and seeing it turn something else on entirely...), but I finally got it working tonight.
ME. I GOT IT WORKING. Not James, who I PAID to not just take a metal box and slap some switches on it (any idiot, such as yours truly, could have reasonably done that with minimal blood loss, I reckon), but to also wire said switches correctly and to send me the correct cable with which to hook up the footswitch to the amplifier, and to DO ALL OF THAT, at the same time, in the same package.
The great hilarious irony in all of this is that I might actually now be the leading expert on El Diablo footswitches who is not also a former employee of Genz Benz or Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, thanks to James's stupendously inadequate job of providing the product he claimed to be able to provide. I've got a functional-enough schematic for the footswitch, and if there was a way I could release it out into the wild for the good of LITERALLY everyone except James Britt, I'd do that, because James Britt sucks. (Hell, I'd like to make insinuations regarding his bedroom prowess and various struggles with incontinence, but I'm trying to stay on-topic here, I guess.) I'm a little surprised that Switch Doctor (Black Magic, now? Not really sure why they've changed their name all the sudden) doesn't offer one of these - I even inquired about custom work and they declined it, but in all honesty, it's a pretty simple/elegant design. Too bad it's such a pain to find that out.
Anyway, sorry for the whole novel here, but I just wanted to offer my story. To the most recent posters - if you ordered recently, CONTACT THAD EAKINS. (Contact information listed above.) I don't know if he had anything to do with the metal box/not-really-the-product-I-paid-for-but-anyway getting here as quickly as it did, but he was definitely helpful. If you arrived here looking for aftermarket El Diablo 100 footswitches (or the schematic!), feel free to post here and maybe I can set you up. (Unless you are James. Because you suck. To reiterate: James Britt really sucks.)
