Do you kill the power to your Rig when done?

Yeah at that point unplugging your amp won't matter. Anything is possible and that's why the insurance industry thrives I guess. I'll continue living on the edge and keep my amp plugged in šŸ¤£

I don't unplug unless there's a real bad lightening storm, and I remember to do so. My amps are plugged into a Furman PF1800 PFR, which is plugged into a Furman PF1800 AR, which is plugged into my wall outlet. I have a whole house surge protector on my outside electrical panel. I'm not terribly worried about my amps getting fried.

What i do think of first is safety, then anything else follows. It is safe for me to unplug it just for safety. Anything can happen at any time.

I was in Orlando five years ago and watched right in front of me a lightning strike take out everything in five homes.
All the power lines and cable lines needed to be dug up and replaced. It can take out everything.

I only unplug things when there are thunderstorms, otherwise, I just turn off the furman power strips.
Same, I see lightning or am out for a number of days (pretty rare), I generally wake up if there is a storm at night. Not going to chance anything to a lightning strike. Ditto all my computer gear etc.

After reading this thread, I'm unplugging from the wall after I power down and off now.... better safe than sorry..... I paid a fortune for my equipment....I'm not about to let it be destroyed...

With the violent thunderstorms, and being in one of the lightning capitals in the world, (Florida), hell yeah I unplug. I've seen lightning do serious damage down here.

A teenage friend of mine was struck by lightning (in Florida) while attempting to retrieve a bag of weed from his treehouse.

Lightning arresters are a thing. When I had a career, I installed them on tower mounted antennae.

They make them for home systems.

Unplugging works too.
