Does anybody make an amp that is a blend of a recto and Marshall?

I would also say the Bogner Helios may be described in that way as well.

I always felt my Hermanson 5 gain stage has that rev d thud with Marshall highs when I want have thst sound
The hermansson rectifier is not like the D. Not much rectifier left in a hermansson

No / I’m saying my MARSHALL jcm 800 by Hermanson sounds like that D with Marshall highs . It’s my favorite too. Not his Rectos .

Ahh. Misunderstood. Thought you meant the rectifier mod. Had one of those. Not my thing. Also had a Laney PA (went to Steve K, RIP) of his and a total rebuilt Marshall.

This Marshall really sounds more like recto than his recto . But retaining really cool and a thump

I’m going to clips soon

Honestly I’d just blend your favorite recto with the Marshall you chose

I kinda feel the Mesa Boogie Stiletto kinda does that.
This is what I was going to post. It's got some signature Mesa tone while aiming for the modded Marshall thing.

I guess it depends which sound you're referring to in the Rectifier. Vintage high gain red channel is somewhat close to a Soldano tone (at least in the preamp). Soldanos are one step closer to Marshall than Rectifiers, and the Hot Rod amps are the most Marshally Soldanos.

If you're talking modern mode, the Recto power section makes a huge difference. A high gain modded Marshall preamp into a 2:100 power amp (modern mode) would probably be the closest to the Recto/Marshall hybrid.

People say early Rectifier revisions (C or D) are more Marshally, but the earliest I've played is an F. They were even marketed as having modded Marshall/Van Halen tone.

Came here to mention Bogners and also thumbs up on the VH4 (and even more so Hagen) comment.

Have ya tried a Knucklehead?? Just for shits 'n giggles, check 'em out.

Another nod for the Stiletto. I own a Stage 1 Stiletto and a ‘78 JMP and they can be dialled in to have a similar vibe, although you can tweak the controls to bring in a rectifier-ish flavour. You won’t get the full fat rectifier “wall of sound” low end from the Stage 1 though.

Fluid Drive is more rectifier-ish out of the box and it can sound even more so if you dial it in and then hit it with a boost (Buxom Boost for me).

I have to say I really like the Stage 1, it just takes time to dial in. Plus I find you need to pick Fluid Drive or Tite Gain on Ch 2 and leave the settings where they are, because Fluid Drive is so much darker than Tite Gain you need to re-EQ when switching between them. Also, it seems to like Greenbacks - V30s are just too harsh.

Good demo of the Stiletto here - he talks about the Marshall / Mesa qualities of the amp. Given how (relatively) cheap they are, I think they’re worth picking up.
