I love all kinds of playing but that might possibly be the most fucking pretentious thing I’ve ever seen in regards to guitar playing IMO.
Leave that shit over with the tan pants crew.

Look at the comments for these guys. The level of sycophant in the comment is actually crazy, and so embarrassing.

The whole YouTube guitar thing is very strange. I think a lot of these guys get followers because of the level, and immense number of simpletons out there, they genuinely think, “oh, I think Rhett shull would be a nice guy and a good friend.” I will follow him, he is perfectly dead average on guitar, yet look at what he’s accomplished! If Rhett wasn’t Beatos intern and featured in his vids, no way that dude would have a half million followers. Beato gave that guy a career.

It’s cool Beato is donating all money from his Gibson model. Well done.

They give false hope to these followers. I have watched quite a few of these guys a little bit, and one thing they do a lot is speak of their success as a guitarist, and they WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO DO THE SAME IF YOU BUY THEIR COURSE OR JOIN THEIR PATREON! You think these dudes are making cash doing a regional tour with a no name singer/songwriter? Not a chance. Their slick studios and huge guitar collection is a combo of YouTube money and sponsorships. There are guys that are literally ATROCIOUS guitar players and they have sponsors lining up.

But, if you are a likable and seemingly approachable guy, you will get followers. Being charismatic or very jolly pays dividends. But, if you attended handsome boy modeling school you’ve got it made in the shade. Sadly for me, I am hideously disfigured so I could never make a channel. I am not funny, charismatic, jolly, seemingly approachable, or likable in any way. I speak in a monotone voice, and I am dead serious in all matters.
 
The guy is Douchie, but I liked his solo the most. Next was the guy with the Les Paul. The last guy was really cool, but was completely showing off. Some of those solos were terrible and had really bad tone.

One had really bad tone. Bukovac was my favorite, the dude with 58 Les Paul. Tom Quayle always plays like that. He is a fusion dude who just wildly solos fast. Every time I’ve seen him that’s how he plays. Tomo has become a total minimalist. And yes, some were quite bad.

The guy comes off as a massive prick and those faces are so condescending to the players; very snobbish. Almost like he's making fun of their playing. It doesn't help that he's pretty much a poster boy for the tan pants and loafers my shit doesn't stink brigade.
 
The disdain so many on this forum have for youtubers is something I just don’t understand :dunno: I really can’t imagine watching Rhett or whoever’s channel discussing the same things we do all day everyday here and somehow getting annoyed by it.

I think the distain is mostly to do with the way they present themselves and their content. Those like Rhett and this dude in the OP video have this smugness about them, like they're better than you and if you don't use the same gear you're worthless as a musician.

There are other's; several being RT members, on youtube that get praise from people on this forum for great content even if it's not the preferred music of choice. For example, not everyone likes e standard thrash metal that Kyle Bull plays, but no one here gives him crap. That's because he comes off as a genuine down to earth guy making videos because he enjoys it and not as an arrogant prick trying to shill gear.
 
2 seconds in I could tell I wouldn't like him, just by his hair. Then he started talking and confirmed it. I think there are only a couple YouTube guitarists I've found to be worth watching and it looks like it's staying there lol.
 
meh. he's douchey, but there were some cool pieces in there, some not so much. I try not to be so soft as to let somebody like that get under my skin. Like it or not, he got a reaction out of most of you. Mission accomplished.

Confession time...I HATE IPA beer. I just can't, tastes like ass to me.

That video sums up social media's general monetary compensation platform fairly well. Quantity eclipses quality. Gross.
 
I don’t let a lot of shit get to me in life because it’s just not worth the energy, but the whole open-mouth/I’m so blown away look that pervades so many YouTube videos and especially thumbnails makes me want to fling fecal matter at YouTubers.

The reaction videos really spurred a lot of that off, it just looks like a bunch of assholes getting ready to blow someone.
