That's what the "artisan" amp they did is, he's just not the type to put his name on stuff as far as I understand it

it's crazy watching him use that same strat deluxe that he's used since sugar with a modern amp like that

Strangely, I’ve only seen him live once and it was a solo acoustic show in a small place in Boston, around ‘92.

Man you're missing out, he's an incredible player live

Obviously I was a baby when the huskers were still playing, but his rig back then with the marshall slaved into stereo twin reverbs with a distortion plus was apparently one of the godliest tones of the era

The first video sounded like shit. I did however, like the tones that Doug was getting in the Blackstar video. I'll be interested once they hit the used market. The tone at the 6:27 mark would be the entire reason I bought the amp. That was money to my ears. With that said, I really didn't hear anything I couldn't get really close to on the Blue channel of my Stealth 100.

Listening to the Clip above I also am not blown away. Sort of has that fizz characteristic that reminded me of my laney protubes. It does go away but you need to turn it way up

2 preamp tubes... Kinda solid state thing going on like their other amps, and the EVH Iconic, (which is a great sounding amp).

I think it sounds like garbage. Really. Sorry. Has this high end that's harsh, (I suppose any amp can, and has knobs), but it almost sounds like your stuck with it.

Aldrich really lowered his standards, and the first time I saw him playing a Blackstar and endorsing Blackstar, I was somewhat dumbfounded..

Need to listen to some more clips, but the one I did listen to was horrible. Everything was fizzy, including the cleans. How the fuck do you make cleans fizzy?

That’s just the character of the stage mkiii at low volumes which I assume cleans up after you throw volume at it. I have no excuse for the clean being fizzy though which is just weird. I think they must share a common first stage and gained it up without thinking about the clean channel in the process.

I bought 3 of their amp and was never happy with either of them, shame on them but shame on me the 2nd & 3rd time hehe

Wasn’t he in the works with Marshall and Suhr for a sig amp at one point? Does he have that big of an ego to let those projects die or maybe it was a money/royalty thing?

Ironically, I met him at NAMM years ago and he was an awesome guy and engaging with conversation. Honestly I wasn’t even a big follower or fan of his but that day changed my mind.
