Recently picked this up. It’s a great little amp. The circuit is very similar to a Hiwatt Super Hi 50. I’ve had both and prefer the Dover. More clarity than the Super Hi.

It’s too bad these are no longer in production. This will give a lot of hype amps a run for their money.

Are these PCB amps?

This is one I’ve been curious about for a while. I remember reading the circuit being very similar to a super hi…. Which I was also real interested in.

I played a super hi and loved it. The voicing was very good. I was close to buying it. And then the dover was coming out which i thought hard about. I never really got the whole two channels that are the same thing.

I understand people want to set them different, but without separate loops, i dont find it as useful as two amps.

It's sarcasm based on my Larry thread post. Nothing odd about it.

Text is hard to interpret tone, but it seems to be so much anger. The reason I find it odd is I dont understand why people get mad when certain amps are called special. As far as it goes, i put your amps in the same "hype" category as wizards and the uber, etc. Not because it doesnt deliver, but because it has that same ridiculous punch like the others. It is a good thing.

Yeah, text can be dangerous because of that. But, there’s zero anger out of me. I’m really not mad about anything at all. Nothing was meant to be negative or directed at anyone in particular.

Dope! Sounds so much better here than in the video I shared with you from the previous owner.

I agree. I have the Super-Hi and the dual gains/masters are kind of useless. I can get the exact same sounds by rolling down my guitar volume as I can by switching masters/gains. What IS useful, though, is the switchable 4th gain stage. That's really all these two amps need. Would make the amps more simple in their layout and less noisy. And you could use the two extra chassis holes for something else... like a mid boost/scoop rotary switch with a few tone stack cap options and a useable depth control (on the Super-Hi at least).

I don't think this amp is in production any more?

The Hiwatt is only 50 watts. But it's just a modified DR504. So you could take a DR103 and do the same thing to it. Or contact Hiwatt. They'll build you one.
That’s very interesting . Very cool . I’m amped out for this year fr . Really ground zero hellion , flagship Hermanson , and 100 watt monomyth are on radar in future
But who knows . They would build a 100 dover if I asked ?

Dover will not, because as far as I understand it, they're no longer in business. Hiwatt probably will build you a 100w Super-Hi. But if you go that route, there are a few changes I would personally want them to do... having owned two of them now.

Thanks for the info bro

God damn, if I knew you could mod a DR104 into the super high circuit, I probably wouldn't have sold the one I built :hys:

Proof GAS is incurable. You just got the most hyped of hyped unobtainium amps and are already talking about the next amp! 🤣
