Today my Einstein 100W head arrived!  I took some quick pictures of the unpacking process.

However, when it stood before me in all its glory I noticed two things. Firstly, the tubes were askew and partly out of their sockets (see picture). I opened the backside and corrected this. The next thing I noticed was that the tubes are 6550 after all. I wrote in another thread that I had ordered a EL34 version due to the apparent non-availability of 6550 equipped heads in my area. I had written an e-mail to the store which had an Einstein in stock, asking which tubes were installed. They specifically told me they were EL34 ones. Since I didn't want to wait any longer, I decided to go ahead and get this head. And now, to my surprise, I find 6550 tubes (even though they were askew). That's not a bad thing at all, of course. Just makes me wonder and also a bit angry at the employee who gave me wrong information.

Anyway, these are just details and I won't let them spoil my joy. I have yet to try out the amp. I'll report back. The serial number is 003/423, by the way. Maybe this can solve the riddle about the "wrong" tubes?

I wish mine had those fancy spring loaded tube holders... One of my tubes got busted during shipping because it came out of the socket.

Now go tear some shit up!

OK, that sucks! It's the delivery guys who throw around the goods. I hate it.

I'm dying to power up my Einstein. Unfortunately, it's already evening where I live and I can try it at whisper volume at the most.

Dude, that's like having a naked super model in your bed, but you can't touch her.

Congrats! im awaiting mines soon , and Thanks to peter s for getting in touch and sorting out shipping details

I love New Gear Day!! Better than Christmas...that is unless that Naked Super Model is under my tree!!!!

Guys, I just tried the Einstein! :D Granted, I only opened the master volume a hair. I can go a further during daytime. Everything said about Diezels sounding good at low volumes is true. The tones! I couldn't believe the definition and purity of the sound and the absence of any fizz/buzz. Playing single, muted strings is a pleasure, and the tone is thick. The bass comes tightly through my Orange PPC 212. Much more than my Peavey ever could achieve. I couldn't stop playing. This amp is really juicy. I haven't even heard a fraction of it yet, nor have I tried it at proper volumes. But this little test run has made my mouth watery. Why didn't I switch to Diezel earlier? Would have been fun as heck playing through it with my old band.

So, I'm now definitely part of the family. The only thing I'm afraid of is the fact that I might eventually lust for another Diezel (esp. if I get into a band again). ;)

Ah yes.....I remembered that delivery day myself.

It ended the quest for tone.
:)

Beauty and enjoy!

Congrats and welcome to the Diezel family!!!!!

One question (for you or anyone else), which are the current stock tubes (preamp and power tubes) on the new Einsteins?...

Regards!!

I don't know about the preamp tubes but my Einstein came with =C= 6550 power tubes, which are the current standard.

VH4 next I think :) I think within about 2 days of my VH4 turning up I'd already added a Herbert to my shopping list.

Diezel, taking over the world one guitarist at a time. :m17:

You speak the truth. Oh man. If I had known... Already I'm thinking which of the big Diezels I should save up for next. And I don't even need another amp! I'm selling my 6505, and I wanted to stick to one amp this time. The Einstein is great! But I honestly keep thinking how great yet another Diezel would be, esp. one that can go more easily into metal territory. Both the VH4 and Herbert seem extremley appealing. And no, three amps are totaly out of the question. Heck, I can't even justify owning two amps at the same time (let alone two high-end pieces). Sigh. Diezel does cure GAS for other amps, but GAS will only really go away when you have all of them. ;)

Lucky they only have a few models at the moment!

My current GAS fuel is:

4x12 with G12K100's
Herbert
Einstein (not sure about 50 or 100)
Schmidt

In that order. :)

It will never happen though, I live in a flat, all that gear would be bigger than my lounge.

Same here. I live in a normal apartment. Currently, my gear is in the wardrobe (which is a little room of sorts). That's the drawback of not currently being in a band (or not owning a house with a big cellar). But damn...a Herbert would be fine.

The quest for tone never ends. i am about to get myself a VH4 to go with my Herbert & my 2 Diezel Cabs. So just because you have one doesnt mean anything...cuz number 2, 3 or 4 is always lurking behind the next turn!!

Enjoy your Einstein. PM Herr Diezel about the new Preamp tubes. i think they are the Ruby 12AX7AC5HG+ in V1 & V2 & standard Rubys in the rest...but i would ask Pappa.
