Reza look at a used Laney VH100r. Paul Gilbert rocked them for years

Agreed. That would crush a DSL and they also cut through really well.

I picked up a Laney GH100L for $250 that I use in dives. I think it blows away the DSL I had.

I've had both a DSL100 and a VH100r. Both good amps, but I preferred the DSL. Cuts like a knife and takes a boost very well.

I mean most every band we play with requests them as their rental gear... They may not be everyone's first choice but they wouldn't be absolutely everywhere at pro gigs if they were absolute shit

I've played around with some when other guitarists in my band played them, they're decent enough if you know how to get a decent tone

This. A good boost with a DSL can be very nice.

DSL is probably the most under-rated rock amp on the market. Very versatile and takes pedals well. Fx loop sounds great. I've even heard metal bands use them and make them sound great (do a YouTube search). It's the best modern Marshall in my opinion. Get an older one that was made in England. There is truth to it probably being the most requested amp for the back line. It's consistent. A friend of mine was getting a back line together for a national act and they requested a dsl. I let them borrow mine. It sounded great from front of house. I dont use it as my main amp but wouldn't be disappointed if it had to be.

DSL is good enough for Nuno to use.
Jeff Beck uses a stock one and hides it backstage. The fancy combos it looks like he's using are strictly used as speaker cabinets for the DSL head. Fender combos I think.

Nuno and I like the same things from an amp.

I have a 2003 dsl100 made in England. Great "in the mix amp". As long as it says JCM2000 on the front panel its an England one. The newer ones just say DSL100H and I believe those are made in Vietnam.

A DSL is good enough for a lot of players, including Jeff Beck and Gary Moore.

Jeff Beck has never been shy about using a DSL. He now uses a stock made in Vietnam Marshall DSL100H as his main dirty tone live. The amp is right there on stage with the rest of his gear.

Bonamassa still has one in his live rig as well. I've always thought it's a solid amp if you dig the Marshall tone. Really comes into its own if you can pair it with Greenbacks and crank it up to stage volume.

I know some will not agree, but I'd take a newer one over the older British made. Reason being if it hasn't had the 'mod' to fix the common failures, its just a matter of time. They took care of that with the newer models. Also once you bias the newer models they seem to be warmer. I compared an older 50 w DSL to a newer 100H, and I preferred the new. I know the 100 is going to be fuller sounding, but the 50 seemed scooped to me.

Try and find the 50 watt version of the JCM2000. Doesn't have the bias drift issue that some of the early 100 watt heads have. Been using the 50 watt head for years and it sounds awesome.

For live playing, I prefer JCM2000 DSL50 over the Laney.
Mine just sounds great without much tweaking, truly a workhorse.
VH100R is a great amp, but a heavy beast to carry at 57 lbs.
I owned a GH50L(which is a one ch off from VH100r) which I really dug too, but often I had to fight with the amp being too bright.

If you can get an older one they are built better the signature writing not the block letter one it and you could have some mods done to spruce it up. I think a dual rectifier would serve that purpose and tone much better imho
