DSL100, school me please

uh oh. This one is missing tubes and the HT fuse. Seller claims it worked fine, but that's usually a tell tale sign. I see Marshall stopped making the replacement boards as well.

I would say those are some BIG red flags when it comes to getting a DSL ..... it's unfortunate ... they are steals for the money when they are working right

it sucks .... they are great sounding amps ...... I re bought a DSL50 a couple of years ago to have one again .....nothing but BIAS problems for me ...

had a guy at work bust out his thermal camera while I had it going ...... the board was getting so hot in some spots I was afraid to run it anymore .... so I brought it back to GC ....

There’s a way around the known problem. No new board needed. I’ll PM. Have to have a competent tech do it though.

lots of options man!! The green on crunch with a boost sounded almost identical to my jcm800 with a boost. And that was in a band setting. Or you might like the more saturated gain channel options. They are all good, just depends what you like

JCM 2000 DSL 2005 and after had the boards fixed.
Not a fan of the Vietnam amps.

Oh shit! Didn't realize they stopped making boards. If it's a pre 2004 model, it will certainly need the board replacement. JCM2000 only. Doesn't apply to the amps with the DSL100 logo near power/standby rocker switches.

edit: I wonder if the boards will be back available soon now that Marshall is back to manufacturing amps again.

Thanks man, it's definitely the pre 2004 version, no DSL logo. It sounds like I'm going to get into the weeds with this. I think I'm going to pass.

The year of the JCM 2K amp is on the barcode sticker back right panel. This one sez 2002 [bad board].

If it's a jcm2000 and the year made is after 2003..... you will be fine.

I have a '98-100 and replaced the board. Close your eyes and push the green channel with an OD and you're in 800 territory no doubt. I have them as well for a direct comparison. I live on the green channel and use my guitar volume for dynamics. Rarely in red channel but make sure my gain never exceeds 3.5.
