Yellow Jacket Triodes are a version of the Yellow Jackets that put out only half as much power, and have a smoother grid. They are called "triodes" because the effect is analogous to how some amps have "triode" or "vintage" switches that only power three pins of a five pin tube like an EL34 or 6L6.

You can use the YJ Triodes at either high or low power. Personally, I think they sound better than the normal Yellow Jackets, and just sound spectacular.

Thanks! What are the regular Yello Jackets? I'll have to look them up.....

Do they work well for gigs?

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I was just wondering if people are still using the Yellow Jackets and liking them. I was thinking about doing this with my Mod 50. Are they difficult to install and bias?

No bias necessary. Plug and play and yes they sound fabulous!!!

So if my amp has 5881 tubes right now I just have to pull them out and plug in the yellow jackets? Sweet. I can't wait to try them.

Yes,the triode versions are cool!!!

I had YJ when I had the MOD50 and they really produce a nice smooth compression at 'low' volumes....really is a tone worth experiencing if you're used to the big bottles.
