Hey all,

Looking to get a Rev G Dual Rec and was wondering if I should be looking for the older ones from 94-95 with the attached power cables or if something from 98-99 would sound essentially the same?

I’m not looking to spend Rev F money and think a Rev G is what I’m looking for but really wondering if serial number matters much once you are in Rev G range.

They can sound a little different, but it's an amp by amp thing and not really time period based in my opinion. Also, it's not like they're going to sound drastically different. I've owned at least 5 Rev G's.

I think it's really dependant on the amp tolerances and what tubes you have loaded into it. I had a 98 Rev G and a 93 Rev F chrome chassis. The G had a lot more aggression, gain and tightness to it. I thought for sure that's what the F would be. Maybe it was component tolerances? Maybe it was leaky Sprague caps in the F? Who knows. I miss my Rev G though. A buddy bought a Roadster and I bought an early 2000 3 Channel Dual Rec and neither sounded like the G or F. All of them need a boost tho.

If had all the Revs but D. If you're going to boost it anyway, just get whatever is available at a good price IMHO.
