Diezel should make its own tubes. An old street for manufacturing say RFTs or Telefunkens would be nice, no?

Telefunken EL34's, this needs to be possible, it would bring world peace.... I'm sure of it.

bogner uberschalls uses e34l from jj. i owned two ubers, and sounded great, but nothing compare to diezel, so diezel+jj = greaattt!!, less trouble for sure.

SHHHHHHH!!!! Mike Mattews may be reading this, so don't give him any ideas about buying that trademark as well. The world doesn't need Sovtek tubes with a TFK logo on them!

I have hear many many great things about the 6L6 SED Winged 'C' , =C= tubes...

I think I will give them a try one of these days, I think they can archive and amazing clean and also a great tone for the leads...

What do you think Peter ? maybe too much to put the x6 SED 6L6 winged C ??? Have you tried ??

 Shutting up.

Hey Peter,
I have tried just about everything out there in this amp even KT88, The VH4 is just too full bandwidth for a hifi type tube like KT88 - KT66.. it just doesnt sound like rock.

The JJ 6L6 is my favorite tube in the VH4..Very tight but still huge sounding. Excellent cleans.. IMHO the most versatile tube.

If I was forced to use a EL34 the JJ L version is my favorite, nice and round.. with a great dark marshally quality to it... but the cleans leave much to be desired.

Peter how did the KT77 sound? Also how did the distortion sound with the JJ6L6's sound?

Have you ever tried Sovtek 5881 / 6L6WGC? Soldono uses them. I have them in my Soldono Avenger 100 watt and they sound great and they are only about $43 for a quad.

I just bought some JJ6L6's to put in my VH4 cannot wait to hear. Also the TAD EL34 chinese tubes only lasted about 20 playing hours after I got the amp. Hopefully the JJ6L6's are not dark sounding.

I have a set of JJ EL34L's in my Herbert. First replacement set since stock tubes. Love them. Been in for 6 months now. No problems. I think they sound much fatter than the Chinese tubes. Never liked Chinese tubes, and certainly won't be giving any of my money to the communist pricks! Getting rid of all the Chinese as they go. Have 2 RFT's in the pre now as two of the slant eyes went microphonic.

Are the JJ's dark sounding or brighter? I definately like the brighter sound as the VH4 is a darker sounding amp already.

JJ El34L had more dark sound to your sound compared to Winged C EL34 but more harmonic content!

The TAD(Shuguang) tubes are so low in treble?????

Regards

itsme! That description sound like just what I'm looking for. I think I am gonna retube my herbert with JJ's. Its too bad I put brand new STRB's in there. :(

Also, dont agree with JJ's being darker than Winged C's. Definitely more midrange in there.

Give 'em a shot. I biased mine at 35ma per tube. You'll have to EQ the amp a bit differently. I had to pull back on my Bass and Deep settings a little, 'cause the JJ's have more bottom end. I'm not a tube swapper, but when tubes go, I like to try different ones. Will probably try Winged C's or Mullards when the JJ's go. But I'll definately come back.

Hey Peter. Do you still put Ruby EL34's in the VH4's? Mine came with TAD EL34 tubes which are made in the same factory, but I have had many people them me that the Ruby's have been more reliable despite being made in the same factory. For some reason the TAD EL34's when the die take out more than just the tube fault fuse.

I will be putting the Ruby EL34's in my amp.

The difference is, that some distributors have a
better and longer test method.
Ruby gets the tubes from Shuguang with a 24 hour
burn in and make a shock test before the tubes
are matched.
Tom McNeil from Ruby is also a very good partner
when it comes to business.
