Well yeah that is what he said. Many tech companies let you know the new versions are coming and don't close up shop to do so.

Sux but nothing you can do about it. You can't force someone to pay. I've been selling on ebay for quite a few years and every once in awhile you get someone who bids and then doesn't pay. Nothing you can do but re-list. Unfortunately you are now caught up in the fractal screwing of their customers. I think it was very un-professional how they did the countdown thing. They should have announced the new product and given a release date a few months in advance. Pretty poor judgement and a bad decision if you ask me. I sold my standard, took the loss, and now I don't think I will invest any of my hard earned cash in this company. It's a great product, but there are other options out there. So you might as well either keep it if you like it or sell it and take the loss now.

So you are saying Cliff should have operated an entire 2 months without being able to make a singe sale because he should announce that a new product is coming out??? Dude, whatever you do, if you open your own business, and operate like this....you will be out of business VERY FAST...

Sorry the OP got screwed man...but at least you didnt send him the gear and THEN get screwed for the money via paypal charge back or some other nonsense....

Yeah...I get really pissed too when I can't unload a piece of gear thats just about to take a shit value wise to some poor bastard still in the dark. I know what ya mean...I don't think "I" should have to take the hit on anything and everybody else should eat it..

Even if this was accurate it gives the purchaser no rights to back out of a sale that was once called a " legally binding contract". Don't confuse the issues, he sold this guy an axe and he refuses to pay. Any other detail is extraneous.

I have to agree with this. Regardless of who's potentially taking a bath with the purchased product, if at all, the fact is the sales transaction is transparent. The purchaser's actions or reactions are most certainly not. I'd have more for a cat who said "hey man, you know, they just released the II and I'd prefer to go for that or do a better price on yours" than go off about the death of his mum. If that is the case and this guy's not talking BS, man, what kinda son's out there buying gear when his mum's in pergatory??

So it goes. Sorry to read this.

Yeah that was one of the directions I was thinking of.

Maybe - You're really happy with your gear so why worry about it - as well?

I put two and two together and decided to sell my Axe-fx Ultra during the countdown...

Oh no, you didn't know at all. I guess 2+2 can sometimes equal fuck you and your axe II.

I love rhyming

Any sale is a crapshoot until the money is in your hands. Glad you are digging what you're stuck with though.

Situations like this will be the eventual downfall of eBay. It's in the T&C of eBay that you're not supposed to offer to make deals outside of eBay, or respond to e-mails from people offering to operate outside of eBay, but just about everything I list, I get an e-mail offering me less money to complete the deal independently. Seems eBay is becoming a glorified bulletin board and as they raise their rates higher and higher more and more people are opting to "go it alone."

Just my observation...

I only offer "Buy It Now" auctions with immediate payment required.
No one can back out of the sale because the auction completes only when the payment has been processed.

Tip: if you choose to run your auctions with this way, change the settings in your PayPal Payment Receiving Preferences to deny payment from outside countries. This way you don't get stuck being obligated by evilbay rules to ship to the guy from Indonesia that just won your auction.

Difference was that I was selling my Axe-fx Ultra without knowing that the Axe-fx 2 was coming out... I just took a chance... It would have been a different story if I was one of the folks who DID know and tried to sell theirs before the ball dropped... So yes I was pissed. :D

Umm.....And I quote "I put two and two together and decided to sell my Axe-fx Ultra during the countdown..."

However...I whole heartedly agree the guy should make good since he did bid etc,etc...

V,

maybe he got a nice inheritance ahead of time
and decided to finally upgrade from his crappy gear that she bought him ten years ago
but he never could sell cause it was a gift, so he was stuck with it,
and just figured, he could again, thank mom for some gear! :D

Speculation about what may happen based on publicly available know facts is different than actually knowing or having inside info. No different than buying/selling stock before a big earnings announcement, etc.
