Ed Roman guitars?

A buddy had East Coast Music Mall(Ed's old place) make him
a "5150" EVH guitar.
Paint job was cool ,played great but he lost interest within a week because it was a single humbucker axe.
We made a drive for him to swap it for something else. This was a $2000.00 custom build.
Barry Lipman was way cool. Ed was a blow hard dick.

I made a comment about different pickups in a guitar that were not stock.
His responce?
"If you put aftermarket parts on your Harley,isnt it still a Harley"?

So,he's all acting like an ass that how can he be returning this custom axe.
They swapped him a brand new PRS solid black CE BOLT ON.(way under $1500.00)
for the custom EVH and told him no one else would give him a deal like that.

Turned out the only thing custom was the paint job and assembly,out of Mighty Mite parts.

About 10 years ago, I was looking to buy an Ibanez Universe. His website came up on a search, so I called and talked to him.

After about 30 minutes of listening to him talk about himself and all the cool shit he's done and not letting me get a word in, I hung up on him.

He spent way too much time bashing gear from companies that make some great products. Anyone who has an entire page on their sales site dedicated to wailing on the products He doesn't like is a bit of a douche in my book.

I went to the store years ago when Ed was alive. It was a huge place with a ton of gear. I was the only guy in there & the salesmen just stood around talking to themselves & wouldn't even come over to help.

Most of the guitars in the store had rusted hardware due to the air conditioner & humidity & their prices were the highest I'd ever seen.

A year later I wanted to buy a Steinberger GS GS7TA. I called the store & Ed picked up. he said he had 2 in stock & would sell them to me both for $5,000. I told him I only wanted one & he said he wouldn't just sell one. I thought he was kidding, but after going back & forth, I realized he wasn't kidding.

I went on Ebay & got it for cheaper few days later.

Horrible guy & a overly hyped store with terrible staff.
