My inner CharvelDan is coming out...

Just got this one last week from wkruspe.

That is a killer guitar.

I had several Edwards Les Pauls, and never had an issue with them. They did not feel like "cheap" guitars. They were solid, with great hardware and pickups. I think my favorite was the Jimmy Page relic model. I'd probably try to buy one of those again....

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on an Edwards Horizon III with the teardrop headstock. I've been gasing for this shape for a long time and there's a decent one on eBay.

If ur Edwards is anything like my Fujigen Orville LPC i know what ur talking about.

My Orville is the first thing i pickup everytime.

Both LP's have SH-5 Duncan Custom / 59 pups.

Almost bought an Edwards before the Orville but nobody could clarify what kind of Customs fee's i had to pay.

One dude had his Edwards held hostage by Customs at O'Hare in Chicago.

I didnt like that then my local shop had the Orville ...

I wanted a HCB or the Page relic.

They have some fantastic older Custom made Orvilles on Ebay all the time.

I've been gassing for one all this week. I've had over 20 ESPs and still have 3 custom shops, but never payed any attention to Edwards. I want the LP92CD JS.

Charveldan if you decide to sell yours please PM me.

I didn't think we had to pay any customs fees here.

I did some research before I bought my last ESP from Japan, and technically there could be a 8% customs fee charged on musical instruments from Japan if they want to enforce it, but from other buyers experiences there seems to be a 50/50 or so chance of that. In my case, I wasn't charged anything...and on an unrelated note, I got the guitar in 3 days, which is half the time it usually takes for a guitar to get to me from the West coast via UPS/FedEx.

I'm a big fan of Japanese made guitars from Charvel to Edwards. Here is a pic from a few years ago...still have the Goldtop but sold the other two but have replaced them with others.

Old thread I know... but coincidentally I found it courtesy of Google.

For those of you wondering, but not wanting to read a long forum thread, I wanted to point out that production of Edwards has moved back to Japan, and it was only a brief stint that they were made in China.

Where did you hear this?

It was in the MyLesPaul thread that was linked a few posts in on this thread... forgot to call that out in my post.

The first post in the MyLesPaul forum thread was updated on 11-21-2014..

"The bottom line is that complete production of Edwards has returned to Japan after a brief interlude (at least 2009 maybe longer) when the initial phase of the manufacture (woodworking through painting) was done at the ESP China facility. While Edwards falls a little short of the Navagator line, the fit and finish are superb making Edwards guitars the most under-rated guitar brand in Japan. The bang-for-the-buck makes them one of the best buys around."

They fall way short of a Navigator but yes fit and finish is fantastic and they are much cheaper and easier to get! The guitar in my avatar is a 2001 Navigator NLP-380. As good as the Navigator is both my 1980 Tokai LS80's have a little more mojo.

The Navigator line is definitely pricey and really nice from what I hear!

If I had $1100 to spend on a guitar right now there's an Edwards on eBay that'd I'd definitely like to pick up.

You can get them a little cheaper used on Ebay!!! Well at least I did. I dig my Edwards. Changed out the pickups and it rocks!!! Not that it did not rock with the JB/59, but the Manlius Asphalts sounded great with it. I just went to lower output pickups (MCP T Wrecks) and it still sounds killer!!! Of course it is not a LP, but who cares!!! My only complaint is the small frets like the older LP Customs. Hard to dig in and just think Randy Rhoads had these size frets on his 1974 LP!!

IIRC, Randy's '74 LPC sported 6230 fretwire (listed as "22 medium jumbo" on the Gibson Reissues). This comes out to A: 0.078, B: 0.043, C: 0.035. Maniac, would you be able to measure your fretwire and verify if it has the same fretwire? Just to be able to inform myself and others if the Navigators have the same "feel" as Randy's LPC?

Since this is a necro-thread, it would be cool to add some good info into (since we know that it's being accessed via a Google search).

If you want an Edwards order direct from Ikebe-Gakki... they ship direct and it's a new guitar usually cheaper than what the used ones go for on ebay. The LP Customs are 97,500 yen which is about $800 + about $100 shipping and they'll take paypal. You just need to click the English Inquiry link and they'll email you with total with shipping.
