If you want my opinion it depends a lot on the amp you play. With Diezels they sound killer, same with Bogners. I can't vouch for any other amp.
Playability of all my Edwards is superior to the Orville I have.

Here is the deal, you need to find a heavy one. It will sound thicker & more ballsy than Gibsons. If you end up with lightweight guitar there is a good chance that you'll be disappointed.

Mine is 10 pounds dead even, have you weighed each of yours? Just wondering if I was above or below average.....

Most of them are around 9lb (around 4 kilos), 10 lb is pretty heavy after all I've read . . .

Mine is under 9lb, the Sykes and the custom standard of my neighbout (gueesed) >9lb.

This one weighed 9.5 lbs and was supposedly a better brand 'Navigator Series'...never had a normal one to compare to but it was a beast of a guitar and looked great...very playable with a medium C type neck:

There was nothing cheap looking about the inlays or 'stock either:

Where do you get those, from Japan directly? I did a quick check on evil bay and all the Edwards there were from stores/dealers located in Japan.

I ordered mine from Ishibashi.
(I've ordered many guitars from them)
3-4 days shipped from Jpn to Montreal

Whats a good price to pay for one that is used?

If you get a chance to play one local & get your hands on a good one it's worth to pay the price of a new one. If you are buying it online Liqueur Taste series can be had for 700$ shipped, that's what I think is a good price.

Sorry man, never really used a scale. I just feel it from how fast by back starts hurting. :)

Most people believe that the lighter weight nitro models sound the best. That goes for Gibsons, Edwards, Fenders, etc... I tend to agree.

I had the Jimmy Page Relic model and the LP Custom copy that Olaf now has and both were FANTASTIC guitars! The necks were thinner than most Gibsons I've owned or played (not what I'd call thick at all.) They also sounded great. Not 100% Les Paul like in playability or tone, but definitely in looks.

I loved them, but ultimately had to get back to the "real thing."

And that's why you need to try one yourself :) I'm not "majority" type of person, I like what I like & I play 11s most of the time. For some reason people like to think that they are getting a Gibson for cheap. Not so, if you want Gibson LP just buy one. Gibsons have their own thing going on, I don't dig it much. I'm gassing for only one Gibson, custom silverburst, but even if I get one I'm not going to use it often. Edwards pretty much nailed it for me. Classic Gibson LPs I've played had thinner neck, my hands are pretty small so I would get really uncomfortable playing anything thicker than Edwards.
I have to agree that quality varies, weights are very different too. My JS custom is the only lightweight I kept, it's really really light, but the neck & playability of this guitar is amazing. 2 98LTC customs - one is really heavy, sounds THICK, the other one lighter, doesn't sound that fat, but plays better. I would recommend against 98LTC black color lookwise, looks nice in pics, but not that good in person. Vintage White is the good looking one.

To sum it up my favorite 2 from their line is the one with EMGs black & 98LTC VW, but if you are a Gibson man, save more & buy one.
