Which one would you choose (or keep) and why?

Which one do you think works better live with 2 guitarists?

Thanks!

EG5 definitely. The ERect is a cool sound and one I wouldn't want to give up but to an extent it is one dimensional. The EG5 on the other hand can be dialed in for a wide range of tones from 80's hairband stuff to death metal and in between. I've even gotten some really nice tones by rolling the gain way back. If I had to pick one it would be the EG5 definitely.

In a two guitarist situation the EG5 will cut like no other.

+1 on that. The e-rect is cool, but not near as useful as the EG5. Definitely get the EG5. Its the best high gain module Egnater makes IMHO!

+1 on EG5. I really like E-Rect as well but this is not even close.

I really love having both in my M4, but I would probably say the EG5 is more versatile. '

ripping lead and killer rhythms.

I'd say it depends what amp the other guitarist is playing but my vote would be for the EG5..just a tad more flexible than the Erect because I prefer the EG5 lead sound.

Thanks for all the replies!

You all pretty much told me what I expected to hear---The EG5 just flat-out ROCKS!

The other guitarist plays a Mesa Nomad, mostly clean with pedals like the OCD, Zen Drive, Timmy etc.
However, he is looking at a Bogner Shiva, so that could make things interesting...

Thanks again,
Tim

Other guitar player in my band plays a Shiva. EG5 hangs no problem.

I have to say Erect after tonight, i'm just not that much of a fan of the EG5

Don't send in the mob :gethim:

Your from over the pond...we won't hold it against you.

I just can't find a fault with the Erect, it really shines to me

Right, i'm sending the mob to you :codeak:

I hate the scooped modern sound of rectifiers so I say EG5 for the thick rhythm tones and thick, midrange heavy lead tones. I have owned Rectifiers and they got on my nerves after time.

I wouldn't say the ERECT sounds exactly like a Rectifier...and I would describe it as thick rhythm tones and midrange heavy lead tones, much like the EG5. It's when I compare the two side by side that I realize how valuable the ERECT is.

E-Rect does not sound scooped to me, but then again I dial it in with a reasonable amount of mids.

Dual Rectifiers in general get a bad rap because its mostly idiots dialing them in and deliberately scooping the mids. In actuality, it is a decent amp and can sound pretty good if not dialed badly. Needs to be LOUD to not be really buzzy though.

Yeah, rectifiers get a bad rep because a lot of modern bands dial in, bass 10, mids 0, treble 10!

I love my Erect, it's my favourite module so far, i have the mids on 7 on mine as my pickup is a passive hand made high output version based on a EMG 81 (sound much better though). So i need to boost the mids a bit to get them to stand out a little more.

Everyone needs mids, FACT!!! :D

Midrange heavy lead? I am surpirsed since the clips on Indoor Storm sound bright and less juicy, midrangy than the other modules. I'll get one eventually as with all modules. LOL! :D

Come to think of it, I enjoyed the Dual Rec when I had it for a while and I had the mids cranked pretty high and the presence off. I hate buzzy tones. I don't play a lot of modern metal anymore so that is why I lean towards Marshalls and maybe the new COD.

What brand or company is the passive hand made pick up you are using?

I love the Erect (the module that is) for combining with more saturated modules to give that extra little kick in the jimmies. There's a demo up on my myspace called "Mob Squad" that has it blended with the EG3 on the rhythm with SL2 for the melody and Fuzz+SL for the solo.
