EG-5 or Erect?

I don't yet own the EG5 (I'll be ordering it this week though  ) but I do own the ERECT. My guess is that I would agree with most people on this thread that to choose one would mean choosing the EG5. BUT.... The ERECT does a very nice thick rythym tone. So I would re-phrase the original question to "EG-5 or Erect, which should I buy FIRST?"

You need both, bro... :D

BTW, my ERECT sounds nothing like my SL2 as long as I use the EH tubes that originally came with it. For fun I played arouond with GT mullards, RFTs and NOS chinese and these tubes did make the ERECT sound more like the SL2, but there was still quite a discernable difference.

I had them both and did the A/B test.....and they are both keepers. I played the ERECT to do the Ozzy Miracle man, Crazy babies TONE and the EG5 to do all the DIRTY work.....Overkill, Heavy Chugging.....etc. But I liked the EG5 over the Erect if I had to choose with a gun in my back!! :D

TO me........the ULTIMATE Rig for metal or rock is:

EG5
ERECT
SL2

That is all you need to cover everything!!
Well......not clean songs........ but you know what I mean!! ;)

Dual Rectifiers in general get a bad rap because its mostly idiots dialing them in and deliberately scooping the mids. In actuality, it is a decent amp and can sound pretty good if not dialed badly. Needs to be LOUD to not be really buzzy though.

+1000

My RKII wasn't your run of the mill recto I know, but still, with volume, it tightened and smoothed up. Very nice amp.

Yeah, rectifiers get a bad rep because a lot of modern bands dial in, bass 10, mids 0, treble 10!

True. Anyone who knows Mesa amps and has read the manual will tell you this setting on any Mesa will sound like shit.

Midrange heavy lead? I am surpirsed since the clips on Indoor Storm sound bright and less juicy, midrangy than the other modules. I'll get one eventually as with all modules. LOL! :D

Well, they did use a Marshall cab, likely loaded with G12T-75s and they're a scooped speaker. Who knows what the settings were? Although I believe they have them posted on the IndoorStorm demo page.

The EG5 has chunks of modules like E-Rect in its stool. This is a no-brainer if you enjoy anything good in your life.

Do any of you guys get microphonic squeal feedback from your EG5? I had to turn my gain WAY back on it when I had mine. I swapped the tubes, tightend the input screws......all that but it still squealed. I was basically playing it with rolling the volume right off mu guitar when doing stops or when drum fills came in, or it would just squeal. Sounded great though. Just wasnt sure if it was just my module or not.
Rock on brothers........

I have one guitar that does that uncontrollably with that module, all else are fine and I use highoutput passives(MotorCity,"Rio Grande Crunchbox",Duncan Distortion,etc..)only the Rios feedback uncontrollably so I guess Wade will be hearing from me again or I just sell it... :D

I only played my Killer with EMG's thru it when I had the EG5. I never tried the ESP Tiger. It was like riding a Wild Bronco!!
Wild sounding but hard to control!
But I have no fears on buying another one!!! Damn right...............

My EG-5 does the same thing. I'm having a hell of a time using it a band situation. But, I love how it sounds.

It says they were VIntage 30's on both the website and in one of the videos.
