I asked for it in the "What do you want Egnater to build" thread a while back. I had no idea they were working on this. I AM IN!!!!

It's a darn good thing becasue I was actually thinking about buying the new Orange Twin Terror, which is also two channels and 30 watts. Now I don't need to even think about it.

COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tommy it has your name all over it and I played the tiny twin terror and well,Orange is an acquired taste, not mine but you know. The new renegage is also very nice, much more defined than the one I played at the Amp show a few months back and they have a 410 combo version that is really sick!!!

I feel a little confused. The GC price (I paid a bit less with a coupon) for the Rebel 20 and one cab is ~$850. Now I can get a 2ch 30W combo with verb and a D.O. for $900? Why wouldn't I trade up? Actually I feel a little burned, even though I like the Rebel.

So ... is it available in a head version too? I don't really want a combo.

I am with you man...i wouldn't want another combo either. My Mod50 1x12 combo is enough for me :)

I wonder why they did this on the heels of the Rebel 20's introduction? I'm confused to. How about a Egnater version of the RM20 for their modular based customers that want a compact rig? That would make more sense. I believe there was a thread on this too, and many people chimed in saying that they would definitely buy this kind of thing.

Maybe they designed the Rebel 30 to be a completely different in sound to the Rebel 20. That would make some sense. But I think it could kill sales for the Rebel 20 for anyone that had a choice between the two and liked combos. I agree with Eric and would only buy the Rebel 30 if they offered it as a head.

What do you think guys?

I honestly think they did this as a "supply and demand" generator. Getting their stuff into Guitar Center is really spreading their name a lot in hopes to upsell to their higher end lines. From a mass production deal, they won't be able to sell as man RM20 type amps "Made in USA" amps because of the smallness of their production. Doing the design work and shipping the production to China really helps them create diversity in their business so once the Guitar Center innovation trails off a bit, they will have a steady stream of income they can use to reinvest in their USA line to beef up production that way.

I own a Mod50 1x12 combo....and I'll tell ya...It's awesome, and very portable. It came w/ a 2/3 closed back. I called up Mojotone (their USA cabinet maker), and they made me a back to make it pretty well fully closed. Have a Weber 75-watt Blue Dog in there. I'll tell ya, that thing is small, extremely versatile, and pretty damn light for a 1x12 combo. I can safely say, I would never buy a RM20 type amp when having a Mod50 1x12 combo. I am not sacrificing in tone at all. But then again, that's me :). What do I know ;)...hehehehhee

Eric, that makes a lot of sense when you look at it that way. Sales from the higher exposure and lower price point of their mass produced line would definitely help bring the guys some capital to continue the MOD line. Then we would all win.

I would love to have a MOD 50 along with my MOD 100. That was my original goal before the lead time grew and my money didn't. LOL! I guess I'm just too impatient to wait!

Jason, is that Homebrew Electronics? How is my MOD 100 brother from California doing these days?

We're in good company with Scott! That man can make an amp sing.

I think it's a great idea to have both. These things are essentially the nemesis of the TT, DT, and Vox Box. Some folks only need something to f with at home for recording so 2 channels aren't mandatory. The 30 is waaaay more aggresive from what I can tell. Different voicings. I think they'll sell a million of these things.

+1

I'm surprised that they don't also have a head-based version. Usually, the progression is to release the head 1st and then the combo (Orange Tiny Terror), not the other way around.

I think it was very smart of Egnater to have dedicated clean and dirty channels. By contrast, the Orange Dual Terror has a "Fat Circuit" and a "Tiny Terror Circuit" -- are you kidding me? It looks like they just welded two TT's together.

A consistent complaint with the TT is that it lacks clean headroom. This was Orange's opportunity to address this complaint with a dedicated clean channel. Instead, they give us a fat lead lead channel and a stock TT tone: basically boosted dirt and regular dirt. WTF? I don't have a problem with Orange's dirt, but a single helping is sufficient!

But unless the Rebel 30 is available as a head, I'm inclined to get the Rebel 20 + an Avatar 1x12 cab and then roll my own clean/dirty circuit through an A/B switch box with the Rebel 20 & its effects loop as the clean channel and the TT as the dirty one.

I would want a head too.

I would assume that they would sell a head version for ~$650. I would trade my Rebel on that, except that GC's current trade policy is so stupid (trade value = 60% eBay). That forces me to deal with private buyers, which is always a pain. And I think it is possible that a 30 head could kill demand for the Rebel 20, so I could be screwed.

One question, did they keep the dual tube type output section in the 30? What tubes are they using for 30W?

(Takes deep breath and chants) I really like the 20, I really like the 20 .......... ;)

This looks like a really cool amp! Especially useful for playing/recording at home, and hauling to practices sessions and small gigs. Does anyone know anything about the recording out? Is it based on the Randall Mic Eliminator that Bruce designed? I have one of the Randall cabs with the Mic Eliminator and I think it sounds really good.

JWW - Not to worry, I think they're really two different amps. The Rebel 20 has more of a classic vibe, and the 30 is more aggresive. Enjoy your 20!
