Egnater EG5 in da house! (remixed clip)

Edit: Here is the original clip showing the bad-ass new Egnater EG5 preamp module, but I went back and took a hair off below 150 KHz with a gentle Q. I normally record with the cabs safely in the other room so I don't tweak myself, but as I was getting used to the new module the other night, I was within the killzone of one of my cabs...the ears were toast when I popped the clip up. This one is more to my liking and how the amp really sounds to me now.

I think I better call Jeff and get one of these added on to my Mod50 order!

Sounds cool. Kind of hard to make out the tone/attack on the lead with that much delay. But thats just talking about checking out the EG5. Nice thick tones from the rhy track.

Nice clippage there John!

I like the way you gave it some smoothness and I love the delay because that's how I'd use it if I had one. So does that cure your hankerin' for the SL2 that you had?

Thanks for checking it out guys. I remixed the clip so the guitar levels compliment each other more.

3 Mile Stone, it is really different than the SL2. It is more sensitive and compressed than the SL2, so I'm happy to have my SL2 back as well!

I can't get over the sound clips coming from these amps. Why the hell aren't the "big" guys playing Egnaters? I'm not a fanboy _at all_ of any gear, really. I'm extremely critical and have searched for years for the right amp and every time I've heard a Mod50 or Mod100 I've said "ok, there it is". I always kind of thought that Bogner was the top of the heap when it came to the balance between tone and control/versatility, but I recently cancelled an order for a Bogner so that I could order one of these things.

WHY AREN'T THESE EVERYWHERE? (not that I'm complaining, I'm just curious. After all, it's kinda neat to have this little secret society of people who KNOW). :D

After we get done with this build. I am going on a huge player campaign to get our stuff on stage with the big guys. Rascal Flats, Alterbridge and some others have inquired about our amps! Now that I am working full time in Egg land things are going to explode. Oh ya the GC thing will give our pro gear...modular a big boost also!

Ironically, those were 2 of the handful of guys I was thinking about! :) I could totally see Mark Tremonti or Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge using these! Mark Tremonti's dirty tone is great, as far as modern tone goes, and the EG5 definitely shares some of the same characteristics. And the guitar tone in the Rascal Flatts stuff is great, too! Glad to hear that Eggies are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

I do think the GC thing should help with the name recognition. It is funny, I mention the Mod 50 in several threads asking about "best amps" and such and it just gets glossed over. In fairness, I wasn't that aware of the module thing when I went and did the class build last Nov. either. I've been researching amps for several years and the info just doesn't seem to be out there much. Hopefully these new endeavors will change that. I think they will and these amps will grow in popularity. Best of luck to the Eggie guys because if anyone deserves it, they do!  :D

Oh, yes that EG5 does kick ass huh??!!

There are several "big guys" playing these it's just that they are playing the Randall equivalents, same technology designed by Bruce.

Same technology, but not equivalent.

There just arent alot of MOD 50s out there so people dont know about them. There is always a wait on them because they cant be built fast enough! I agree that Tremonti is the type of guy that would benefit nicely from a MOD 50 with a T/D and EG5. He (ie his crew) already brings around a separate Twin for cleans to run with his Uberschall (though I heard hes using a Shiva for cleans now). So many pros need to bring 2+ amps because until the MOD 50 there was always a compromise in clean and dirty tones in channel switching amps. Once the name gets out there (and the GC move is great for this) I think youre going to see ALOT of Egnater amps out there on stages. As long as they can built them fast enough!

Funny story about name recognition... The other guitar player in my band said he read a thread somewhere where a guy responded to an add for a guitarist mentioning that he plays through a Bogner XTC half stack. The band responded saying they were "only looking for guys with pro gear (like a Marshall or Mesa)"  :D

Yeah, Tremonti runs two Twins for his clean, and layers an Uberschall, Recto and now on Orange for his dirties. I'm pretty sure a Mod50/100 with a Twin module and an EG5 would probably get him pretty close to, and better than, his current sounds. His live tone isn't anywhere near as good as his recorded tone, anyway.

Get Linkin Park, I heard the guy is using modded Randall RM100s now, I guess you should show him what the real deal can do!

I know I love my MOD 50 with the Bassman and MHG, but sometimes the MHG can be dark although still GREAT!

I'll listen to these clips when I get home but I heard the EG5 is very 80s metal? I want something with a big growl and good bite that can still sound great witht he gain turned down. I tend to like darker tones but still need cut.

heck, I'll just have to keep collecting all modules. LOL!

I know I want the EG5, SL2 and EG3/4.
