Simply stellar as always John. I think Egnater should use some of your clips on their site.

Where did you have the gain on this? Im guessing 10 oclock because I usually run at Noon and my sound is a little more saturated. But then again I use humbucks and you use a Steve Morse model right?

Thanks EWSEthan, or soexactly, the gain was right around there, maybe a little less actually. This was the B channel on both. The A channel is a little gained down from B by about 1 and a half clock positions or so.

I'll have to check out the EG5 but that EG3/4 just sounds so thick and menacing compared to anything else! I already have the MHG so I wonder what I might gain from an EG5....maybe a more big 80s metal tone?

I just used the EG5 to spiral slice a ham and turkey, sharpest knife in da house :D

I dont think EG5 sounds 80s. Its definitely got the Soldano and Diezel thing going on which are definitely modern sounding amps. If I was going to pick an Eggie module to do Motley Crue and Poison covers it would be the SL2. But then again if I start playing "Seventeen" by Winger I can make my E-Rect sounds really 80s too! :D

John:

Thanks for posting all of your clips here, in the MTS forum, and on your website. Its your and Jeff Hilligan's fault that I am now anxiously awaiting my M4 and 4 modules (T/D, VX, COD, and EG5) to be sent this week from Egnater, and now that I am a couple thousand dollars poorer! I hope you feel better now!!!!

On a more serious note, your tunes sound great, and I am VERY VERY impressed with your tone, your playing, and your band. If you ever make it out to the Midwest, let me know, I'd love to catch a show!!!! Your clips are a big reason I took the plunge and am moving away from my JMP-1 that was modded by Trace @ Voodoo Amps. The sounds you were getting were just amazing, and if sound 1/2 as good as you, I'll be stoked!!

Keep rockin! And thanks to Jeff for pointing me to this forum. I'm da n00b here :D

Thanks,

Thanks for the welcome. I wish I would have found this forum a long time ago. A lot of great threads. Seems like a lot of awesome people. And people that suffer the same "G.A.S." syndrome that I do. I feel at home already! ;)

or if they secretly want to be a Thanks,

Thank you very much. I say this over and over again, but the reason I love Bruce's gear is that it is extremely musical and personal. Not all amps allow you to express your own personal tone as much as these. So, good luck finding your voice with these great amps. Welcome to our happy little family.

I am just soooo darn excited to get the M4. I've owned soooo many different amps in my life, and I truly am very hopeful that this will be my last. The modular idea is very brilliant, so kudos to Bruce!! I have had so many amps that just didn't feel right. None of them I really ever felt really was the tone I was going for. The closest I've gotten so far has been w/ my Voodoo Amps modded JMP-1 w/ my 2/90/2. But the JMP-1 is really a one trick pony. There is really one sound...the Marshall sound, which is great, but not nearly versatile enough. I always loved the concept of multiple heads in one rig, but its just so damn heavy and annoying to move ;). Here's to hoping that my M4 will be what I'm looking for. A 6-space rack w/ power, the m4, a Lexicon MPXG2, and a VHT 2/90/2 hopefully will "rawk my ballz off" ;).

By the way, I think your rig is awesome man. What you do with it live is just plain amazing. I thought I was a "busy" guitar player. I'm surely boring when compared to your "fancy footwork". How you blend the regular guitar tones, and the synths so fluidly is downright amazing. You are definitely in control of your rig live.

Don't worry, they will be coming. I've got "G.A.S." bad, so once I sign off that the M4 is the way to go, I'll be getting more, that's a given!!! I definitely am interested in the SL2 and the EG3/4. But the 4 I ordered are going to get me where I need for now.

Thanks for the welcome!

Eric
