You just have to play both in the same room, same guitar, same settings, same tubes and you will feel the difference, guarantee :D

I played it next to a Randall RM100 that had been modded with a Mercury Magnetics. There is no way I will pay that kind of cash for the Mod 100 so if anything I would do an RM100. But really, whatever I sacrifice in tone (tiny bit) I gain back in weight savings and prtability. :D
I have heard my Mod 50 from the audience and LOVED it so that is good enough for me.

I'll have to give the RM100 some more listens because I could always get one, mod the head and have it modded to handle two channel Egnater modules.

Funny, cause when I got the Mod 50,I sold the RM100,cause I thought that it just sounded way better, but with the dual channel upgrades and new tranny's might be diff but then the expense is higher.Just sayin.

Thanks Dave!

It's a great job you guys have done with this shoutout!

I tend to agree about the tone of the Egnater in the shoot out. My first thought was that I wouldn't have bought the Egnater if the SL2 sounded like that. My favorite sounding sample was the Soldano SLO. I do think the idea of comparing all those amps was awesome and really appreciate the guys who put it together.

I thought the MOD100 and modules sounded good in the shootout, so no worries from me. :)

I would say this: I think all the amps could probably have been made to sound more distinct from each other if there was more time to dial them in (Dave himself just mentioned how limited it was), or if different people with different taste were dialing them in, etc. As I suggested in another thread, James seemed to sort of dial things to sound good to his ears, which lent a sort of "uniformity" to the many of the tones. That's not good or bad, that's his taste and the amps sounded good that way. But if completely different people were dialing amps differently, or perhaps if all the amps were simply played with everything but gain straight up/neutral, it might have sounded different.

Absolutely concur with that assessment...
