Hi,

First post... so hi!

I need some advice. After a few months of trying out amps I have a short list of 2. As I'm posting in the Diezel forum you'd be right in guessing one is the Einstein combo and the other is a Framus Ruby Riot 1.

I play mainly Texas style 'dirty' blues/rock with some 80's rock. I love great cleans and reverb but spend most my time playing with overdrive and distortion.

I play at home for practicing and at small venues say around 50 + people.

So guys why should I buy the Diezel - help me out

try a diezel and you know the answer ;)
but you should try a schmidt and a einstein.

I've tried the Einstein and the Framus... and liked both. I do think the Einstein is a much more flexible amp. I've not found a Schmidt to try, yet :aww:

you should buy the diezel simply because it is better
the einstein will do exactly what you described

Well I have another session with the Einstein on Tuesday - I'll have a little more time to play it on Tues. Its just a shame I cannot get to play the Schmidt.

Sort of like a side question about the Einstein - how does it play at practicing/bedroom levels?

in my opionion, the einstein isn't made for bedroom. if you play loud, the einstein sounds better then you play in bedroom!

What about an attenuator - I only need low volume for practice at home.

Einstein is perfectly fine amp at low & mid volumes, it's actually the best I've ever tried for bedroom playing. As a matter of fact I prefer how it sounds at normal loud volumes as opposed to cranked really loud.

Thats fantastic news!

Hi,

so far now Einstein is the best amp I played at bedroom level. But it opens up on higher (not very high) volume and breathes more. Speakers are very important!

thats true!!!

I'm more than happy to run an amp at low to moderate levels at home with some nice overdrive/distortion/fuzz up front.

So am I dropping the idea of Framus?

I have an ENGL Screamer and an Einstein, both amps sound very well at low volumes,as with every tube amp i've tried the sound always opens up the more you turn your volume up.

I don't think you will feel the need for an attenuator, might work better for you though.

IMO You should not run any dist/od boxes with this amp, It's just not needed. Even at low volumes, there is a ton of gain on tap.

I would not recommend using an attenuator at all with any Diezel amp. That opinion comes straight from Peter Diezel.

I second smdb on this one, Einy does not need (way way more gain than anyone would ever need or want) or particularly like gain pedals infact. Iv tried myriad through mine on my quest to find a pedal that actually adds to the tone and so far iv found nothing that adds anything to the sound of this amazing little amp.

I feel that if sounds awesome at bedroom levels and supreme at gig levels if properly controlled. I myself and a number of others use TC G-majors to tame the beast rather than an attenuator which can be trouble for the components in the amp and sucks tone to boot.
