I am a happy owner of an Einstein (100w, 2x12 FL V30) since last December. I've already used it at home, rehearsal and live situation (100 persons club). To early to be certain, but it seems to do just what everybody expects. A little difficult at home (low levels). Cleans perfect, dirty sounds (leads) some days nice, some days not. at Rehearsals, to difficult to be gentle. There is a constant urge to turn it up and  . At live, connected with 4x12..... just like heaven.

If you have the money just buy a 15watter for practice, and two 100W heads for live: one for cleans and one for dist (and one for backup maybe :) ) Otherwise you will just have to compromise..

PS. And DO NOT put OD/Dist pedal in front of an 2000Euro Amp. Just search all available amps in market to find the one for you...

That's just crazy :loco: You don't need one Einy for clean and one for dist and another for backup? Where the hell do you work? I really don't think you need $12,000 worth of amps (sorry Peter) (plus a 15 watt amp) to get where you want to be. What kind of compromise are you dealing with? I have been using my Einy (I only have one) for gigs and I can tell you I have not compromised a thing as far as tone goes. you can do the channel one mod for more options.
It is time for you to order that amp and be done pondering. It is a great amp.

Just buy one, leave the stock tubes as is, and enjoy the rig! If you really feel the need for a dist/od pedal then try it.

Im pretty sure I bought my Einstein so I would no longer need to compromise! Buy the amp, it slays!

AMEN!! I have been leaving my VH4 at home since I got the Einy, maybe it's a honeymoon phase and I will go back to the VH4, maybe not. I REALLY dig the Einy.

Why is that? There is a number of players that do it (incl. Eric Johnson, Jef Beck, John Petrucci, Slash, Larry Carlton to name a few from various grounds), and find nothing wrong with it. It is all matter of fit and purpose. What the price has to do with it, is beyond me. Of'course that is IMNHO, YMMV.

Man, we are NOT Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, John Petrucci, Slash, Larry Carlton (to name a few).

But you wish you would be, don't you   I am in no way saying that you should be like someone else and I am in no way near that league, but I am still using pedals in front of <whatever value> amps and I find nothing wrong with it, as far as it fits what I am doing.
Best of luck,
Niki

I love my Einstein after having it for 2 years now. It really is a great amp for all aspects of what I do.

However, that Mark V gas has struck me......so I'll have to give one of those a whirl.
:scared:

Okay I've ordered the Einstein - deposit paid and now I wait.

Thanks to all who have posted replies.

I'd say you've made a pretty damn wise choice. Did you get the EL34 model?

Framus amps suck at low volumes. The Ruby Riot is alright - it is only 30 watts after all - but the Dragon is awful at low volumes, IMO. I owned it for a few weeks and couldn't stand the low volume tones. It was good when you really pushed it, but that's not practical at a musician such as myself.

On the topic of pedals in front of a Diezel, I think, to be frank, Diezel amps don't sound great with OD pedals. Lovepedal gear sounded good to me, but that seemed to be it.
Diezel has such a unique tone to it, altering that 'essence' just doesn't seem to work that well.
But look at 65 Amps, Dumble, Matchless, Suhr, etc., they all attract pedals like nobodies business and they're often more expensive than Diezel.

In my opinion, price is irrelevant.

Yep with the EL34 and although the amp is expensive (well it is for me) I see it as an investment. I'm happy with what the Eistein can do at home/practice levels and that is important to me. I don't want to be changing amps and always searching for 'that' tone. I'll hang onto me set of pedals for a while, and if I do decide I don't need them, then hey I can use the cash for something else - may be a Schmidt

Reliability is also important to me, and everywhere I research Diezel people always say their reliability is the best. So I'm pleased to be joining the 'family' - only problem is now the wait.

Okay - just a very quick question... can I dial the Einstein to get a Keith Richard Brown Sugar tone?

Probably. Rolling off the tone on your ax, rolling back the treble on the amp, and working the pups on your git... I'd say

Good Luck,
V.

PS - taking a copious amount of heroin and liquor and not washing for, oh, about 3 months might assist in achieving that tone as well...

Yes!

Texas Mode, single coil, roll back the volume.
I play a couple of Rolling Stone songs with my Einstein, for me it works great (and for the band).

Best Wishes

Spent about an hour with the Einstein - it really is one amazing amp. I've no need for OD/distortion pedals with this amp. It can also play at low/moderate levels - so very happy. Only problem is I cannot get a delivery date that is less than 3 months! Ouch! I'm not sure I can wait that long

Btw, this thread is awesome. Good conversation without flames but statements.
I wish the world would be like this

I have to say Einy is rather sensitive to guitars and pickups, more so than all of the amps iv owned so far. I had a chance to Jam with the guy nextdoor to me a few weeks ago and he bought his 1972 Tele round and without changing any of my eq settings we ended up in a completely different sonic environment compared to my main guitars(see sig). Not to mention how much of a change it was when we started tweaking!

Its opened my eyes (and ears!) to the point where I'm seriously looking at strats and teles again which I've not once even considered as an option in over 15 years.

Its just a testament to the awesomeness of the Einy's preamp design, I'm convinced given the right guitar and pickups there's nothing this amp wont do.

I absolutely agree. I had Seymour Duncans Jeff Beck Humbucker in my PRS CE 24, but they were too hot for the Einstein and due to Peters advice I changed them to more classic pickups.
Then I went a step further and bought a HSS Strat with an Bare Knuckle VII. In combination with the singlecoils it is a very verstile setup.
I cover songs from Chuck Berry, Beatles, The Stones, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, Clapton, AC-DC, ZZ-Top, Gotthard, Saxon ... and due to the audience and the guys at the PA and mixers my sound is good.

But it took me a little time to get Einstein to know, how it reacts with different guitars, pups, tubes, speakers ...but it is worth the effort!

This is really good to know. I played the Einstein with my Start HSS with Nailbomb bridge and Trilogy Suite mid and neck coils and found some great tones with only a short play. Even more amazing is that someone other than me still plays Saxon stuff

The Texas mode should get you somewhere in the area. It's more S.R.V ish though.
You will enjoy the amp.
