Couple of shots...
Have this... The very first officially produced Elmwood 3100, and the very first to ever be reviewed (MusikerMagasinet Nov -97).
You might see that unlike any other 3100 produced, this was made with a choke (from Elmwood themselves, not added later).
From this demo? I love this tone:
haha, indeed! Ash Williams would be proudUm, holy necrobump! But also, I’ve always wanted to try one of these.
Nah, that was also one of the earliest made ( I ordered that one shortly after reading the review back in -97).
As you can tell in the video (might be hard to see), it does not have the choke. That particular amp also had a mod
done by ELmwood to have channel switches on the front, which wasn't standard (you can only change channels via footswitch
or latching, not on the amp itself). That amp is owned by a friend of mine since many years back, and as he refuses to sell it back,
I've been looking for an early one since then, and struck gold with this one
You might very well have mate Ten years back I was using them all the time, even did a clinic in Tokyo using the little rack-portion of the Stinger as my carry-on rig. Unfortunately, the guys that used to run Elmwood (from the designer/builder Jan all the way to the PR Peter), are no longer in any way involved with making amps, under the Elmwood brand or any other. I've tried to reach out to them several times over the last 5 years or so, with no success, it's lids on, closed doors, no habla And I was even an endorsee, met them every year at trade shows etc...Ah that's awesome. I might have written you about that at some point in the past ... 10 years. I love my 3100 to the point where I'd be tempted to buy another in case something happened to this one (actually almost got smashed in the last big earthquake here..was fortunately wheeled a meter over from the usual postion). I'd still at least love a matching 2x12/4x12 but shipping to Tokyo is pretty crazy.
I would really like to know more about Elmwood, if any of those guys are making any amps under another brand, if they still will do service on Elmwoods if necessary. Or who made their cabs? Could I get one made now to my spec? etc. If anyone has any pointers, please let me know. I don't know where to begin / what do to if something goes wrong with it.

They made the cabs in-house as well as the amp chassis, so getting anything made by them is off the table I'm afraid. I could recommend other brands such as Hesu or Zilla if you want something custom made, but honestly, the best sounding cab I've ever used for these amps is the Marshall HW 412 with Heritage 30's, it absolutely kills!!
That cab was an original ELmwood so it had V30's (which was standard for them). That sounded great, but honestly, the camera does "polish off" some of the stringent high-end and high-mid of the V30's And you are correct, they are the G12H30 (70th anniversary) speakers. The sound of that cab in your demo clip is just about perfect to me, but out of curiosity, what are the speakers in your HW? Heritage 30 = G12H30? Like a greenback speaker? Celestion's messed up their naming too much over the years for me to assume that's right.
Hi, i have the same amp also bought as ”the first” according to Jan, nr 1-2-3 was their own and mine was nr 4, which was the first sold as a customer amp, not a development/test amp . Maybe yours is one of the 3?Have this... The very first officially produced Elmwood 3100, and the very first to ever be reviewed (MusikerMagasinet Nov -97).
