Eminence DV-77/V30 blend?

Yes innit sure how people got that comparison. Strange.

Even Eminence will tell you the VM12-65 is more like a V30, along with the C-75 which is their take on an original V30 and the Governor is their standard V30 type speaker.

The DV-77 seems more like a mix of a Redbacks and K-100, to my ears. Lol.
I could be way off!

Eminence suggest DV-77/Governor.

That said, I know guys who love the DV77/V30 and since I already have V30s in my Bogner, I am thinking of getting DV-77s or maybe Fane F-70s. They were recommended.
Also the Redback/Creamback I bet is great Coffe Cabs does that mix in their 212 cabs.

I know guys say 8 ohm speakers are darker or warmer, fuller, but not sure I'd hear a difference and since I can only replace two speakers at a time in my Bogner, I have to stick with 16 ohm speakers.

Are two 8 ohm speakers, the same as running two 16 ohm speakers at 8ohms, in terms of what the final sound is like?
They don't sound like any of those in my opinion. They sound kind of like a V30 with an aggressive high shelf somewhere around 1k, which is also why they don't sound like a V30. There's little to no upper-mids. That's why they can get lost by themselves. Just order the damn things already and pair them with the V30s. If you are looking for a speaker to mix with V30s, you wont be disappointed. V30/DV77 has become my favorite speaker combination.

Yep, I'm gonna a order them.
Chances are I'll end up replacing the V30s too. They are China V30s and I want some variety any way.

Most of my friends who went with DV-77's ended up pulling them out very soon after. I think Jarrod is a skilled guitarist but I take his opinions with a grain of salt.

I ordered a 4x12 from KSR with creambacks and either dv77 or redbacks. I just told Kyle to put in whichever he recommends as he had both at the time I ordered and when I got the cab with redbacks and creambacks. I'm glad that's what I ended up with as I absolutely love them. I do wish I still a cab with v30's though just for variety.
I actually have my 212 HW paired with that combo. Not really my thing. I've been thinking about putting in another Redback. Or putting a v30 in with one of them. I actually just ordered a KSR 412 ( v30s and h75).

I've never tried the DV-77's, but Governors and V12's are attrocious. They can be made to sound OK in the room, but as soon as you swap in some good Celestions in there, it's night and day.

I always hear this weird Eminence thing to the mids in every clip out there too, and it's VERY easy to recognize the second you throw an SM57 in front of them. Some have it more than others. DV-77's seem a bit easier on that regard (but it's still there if you listen closely), but Governors are BAD. It almost sound as there's something going on with the phase, even if you're just using a single speaker and a single mic. Maybe an SM57 is not the right mic for Eminence speakers. But honestly, if a speaker doesn't sound good through an SM57, it just isn't a good speaker, IMO.

So I just stay away from Eminence speakers, really. Especially if I intend to throw a mic in front.

Ive been wanting to try a DV-77 and vm1265. Celestion always gets me though. V30 and h75 creamback is what omega used before they got the signature speakers made.

V30 and H75s are one of my favorite combos. If I were to buy another cab that's likely what I would go with. I have 2 v30s in my ksr 212hw and I can't bring myself to swap out one of the speakers. I love that cab way too much as is

The redback/75s work way better than I expected. Especially for lower tunings. The bass holds up wonderfully

My 412 KSR cab is going to be straight up H75s

Honestly if I had the space I would have nothing but single speaker cabs. I don't know if you've ever paid attention to pics of my amps but I'm pretty cramped
Yeah. I'm the same way man. I really should get a few more 112 hw cabs, 212 cabs. I am going to get 2 412s right now though. The 112& 212 cabs will be perfect for inside my house. I would be using a 412 when I go play in the garage
