Nice clips.

I really liked that metal riffing

Thanks!

The Blackmore is a killer amp. I have had a bunch of amps and the Blackmore has always stayed. I like it a lot better than the Fireball 100 and Invader 100 that I owned. Also like it a lot better than the SE and Powerball, both of which I have spent a lot of time on. :)

hey KT, do you remember how you dialed in the JVM and Blackmore on the clip where you blend them? I'm surprised that they sound so similar but maybe that's just an artifact of the mix.

Damn, I still havent had anytime to listen to these with band stuff going on this week!! I should be able to tonight, though.

Thanks for all the input guys. I guess I really need to try out a blackmore and a savage before I decide. The thing drawing me to the blackmore is the price, and the fact that every one says its more open. I could care less about versatility, as I only need one awesome distortion sound, and a semi-ok clean. Im gonna have to get a 412 sometime in the next couple of months, and Im gonna have to get a head as well, so Im trying to decide what head to get. Its either gonna be a 5150/6505, blackmore, savage, or Cobra. Depending on how long I have to save up before we start playing, will be a big factor...if I dont have longer than like june/july, Ill probably be getting the 5150, but if I have longer to save up, Ill be looking into other options, just to have something different.

Decisions, decisions....

but raf, you already have a 5150....
Also to your list, have you checked out a mark or a titan or a baron yet? I know with the mark iii if you want to just dial in a great distortion, it would be excellent, very versatile in tone shaping. Also have you checked out the tremoverb?

I really wanted a Titan for a long time, but after trying a d60 and talking with Zach, I decided that it may not be what Im looking for, and I dont think I will be buying one without hearing it first. Ive thought about Baron, but I dont want to have the same situation as the d60, either. The clips sound awesome, but I dont want to take the risk. Ive played the Cobra, and I know I like it, but Im not sure if I like it more than the 5150...so I need to have another go with one. Ive been considering the Engls because I know they are tight and mean, but they are so expensive that I need to try one as well. Ive also read that they sound good at low volumes. The problem with a lot of this gear, is that its kinda pricey, and I would have to save up for about a year or so to have enough money to buy one. (cept the savage might take a little longer). They are also pretty inaccessible as far as trying them out goes.

Ive thought about the mark series, but I think they are too smooth for what I am going.

I know I already have the 6505, but I want to get something that I can leave at the studio and take to shows, and I think for that purpose, I might just want to get a 5150 head thats already beat up and cheap.

i think the titan is a lot closer sounding to the fja 5150 i had than zach would like   it really is just clearer and has many more tone shaping possibilities, especially with the contour. it has a bit less unusableness overall (you know, more useable gain, a better mv, more useable eq ranges) and is built flawlessly. it also has a terrific loop, great cleans and mid gain. it sounds open and musical compared to the 5150 ii (imo)
i also love the tremoverb, have you tried that?

Sorry, missed the tremoverb question first time around. I havent tried the tremoverb, but Ive heard its the best of the rectos. I am not a fan of dual and triple rectos, though, so I would for sure need to try one out first. I still think about the Titan all the time. I would really love to play one and decide if its for me or not.

i am typically not a fan of rectos either, but there was something about the tremoverb i played that put it in a whole different class than any other recto i had played. it didnt need to be boosted to deliver good bass response, didnt sound as harsh, and didnt sound like it was being played through a wet paper bag. i am not sure if you would love it, but it might not be what you expect from the name.

too bad you live on the opposite side of the US, the 200w is a beast. i turned it up to 6 at practice and holy shit it was louder than any amp i have heard. although strangely, my 75w mark iii is the second loudest amp i have owned, and thats compared to a slew of 100w and 120w monsters

fwiw, i also greatly disliked both the vhts i have played (pitbull 50cl and 100cl) they had an uber dry bite, strange sounding upper mids, and were not nearly as tight as i was expecting. i am pretty sure the 50 was busted because it was a harsh fizzy mess and had pretty limited volume, but the 100 seemed to be functioning great. i was pretty dissapointed as i was excited from what i had read. oddly enough, i saw a guy playing a UL through a uberkab and it was a whole different sound from what i was battling with, so who knows

this. it actually reminded me of the 5150III. the titan didn't remind me of a deliverance at all, except for clarity, and you could hear the actual guitar through it. truly a sick amp, and i will have one when i can get a job, or trade my dual rec for it...

Yeah, the d60 just really disappointed me. I was also super stoked about that amp, from what I read and clips I heard. There was just something in the bass that I really didnt like. Something about the feel as well. Just really wasnt what I was expecting, so after that, Im skeptical to buy amps without trying them lol.

I might like the tremoverb, but I dont know that it would be the sound that I am looking for.

Ive played the 5150 III and I loved it, but for the price, I would rather just grab a regular old 5150 or 6505. Im still considering the blackmore...it sounds like what I am after in clips...

Another fear that I have, from my experience with the d60, is that I will dial whatever amp I get to sound similar to what I am getting with the 6505. I mean, I really only use 1 sound, and Im not after versatility, just want something to give me that sound....While I would love to try out all these amps, I have a feeling that I will just come back to the 5150 cuz Ill be dialing everything else to sound similar, and then whats the point of spending 2500 on that sound when I can spend 600 to get it...

So I have a bit of thinking to do. I think the 5150 might just be it for me.
