I'm having a hard time deciding which to pursue. I thought I was set on the Invader but still enticed by the Triamp. Both are big, heavy heads. Both are in the Bogner, Soldano, Friedman price range, both are incredibly versatile and sound incredible. Man, this is a hard decision! Let me hear some good breakdowns and help me figure this one out. Thanks.

Are you looking at the newest versions respectively? So Invader II vs Triamp mk III?

I preferred the Invader II with Sound Wizard Module. The H&K's dirty tones seemed more compressed, which is fine if that's what you like, but even with higher-gain tones, I prefer more open. The Engl's higher gain channels can be really compressed too, but the Sound and High Gain switches add a lot of flexibility, and then the Sound Module brings even more. How the sound module behaves changes too depending on whether you have Sound or High Gain toggled. There's some complexity and learning curve at first, but it didn't seem unmanagable. If you use MIDI, there's a lot of options for saving/recalling different tones. I like to tweak and really fine tune, so the Invader II is right in my wheelhouse.

I didn't end up keeping either, but I occasionally have to resist the temptation to pick up another Invader II.

Used Triamp mk3. Because they resale cheap.
But that's because I have the ENGL I wanted.

The H&K is one of the best bang for the buck values out there on the used market.

I like channel 3 on the invader with none of the buttons/modes engaged. It sounds soooooo raw. Notes track fast and its just super aggressive. That said, its a lot if money for just that one channel.

The h&k looks cool but if it were my money, I’d get a clone of Invader channel 3, a black spirit 200 and an a/b/y pedal.

I actually prefer the Invader 100 because I don't really care for all the sound wizard stuff. I've played a Triamp MK3 but still love the MK II. Someone mentioned the Triamp sounding compressed and it was my first impression of the Triamp MK III that it was a bit more compressed than the MK II, so maybe I'll need to do another comparison. At this point, I'll probably try to find either an NOS or really MINT Invader 100 or Triamp MK II.

I've never played a Triamp MK2, only a MK3, but heard many people say the MK2 sounds better. The MK2's have come down a bit in price. I've seen some listings in the 1k range where a few years ago (pre covid) were closer to 2K. If you can swing it get both Invader and Triamp MK2.

I prefer the invader. My H-K disappointed me greatly

I liked the H&K Triamp MK 2 very much. Regretted selling mine. Killer head! Haven’t seen the MK 3 version so no opinion there.

What about the older H&K Coreblade 100? Never played one, but was considering one several years ago...but went with an Engl rack systems instead.

The Triamp has too many things I'd likely never use, like the Revv Generator 120 MK3. All those added complexities are likely future problems.

They rarely show up but if you happen to see a H&K Warp X or Warp T (they're the exact same just different name) grab one. It was marketed as a Nu Metal amp but it's a lot more than that. Because of the crap marketing it's very under rated. Just don't confuse it with the crap SS Warp 7.

It is competetion between two of the most bland and boring sound amplifiers 😀 Worst sounding Engl and best sounding HK but still... 😀

I had the opportunity to directly compare H&K Triamp mkIII and my 2202KK and that fuckin' Triamp almost killed my Marshall. Except of that, it's versatility was huge. I would be only afraid of reliability, it's a really complex amp.

You funny. :sneaky:

Either that, or you never played a Powerball I.
In fact I played for few years and it was my first 'big' amp. As an European I had every Engl amp and preamp and still think Invader sound even more generic and bland than PB 1 :ROFLMAO:
