Engl Invader or H&K Triamp?

Coreblade is one of my favorite high gain amps I've ever played; massively underrated IMO
Was it the Coreblade or Switchblade that Tom brought to the Pickle Palace? I remember one of them being there, and sounded really good.

It is competetion between two of the most bland and boring sound amplifiers 😀 Worst sounding Engl and best sounding HK but still... 😀
If the Engl Invader and HK amps sound so bad then what do you think is a good quad-channel amp or 3 amps-in-one amp?

In fact I played for few years and it was my first 'big' amp. As an European I had every Engl amp and preamp and still think Invader sound even more generic and bland than PB 1 :ROFLMAO:
In that case, disagree.

The Invader sounds like no other Engl amp. Is it more polished and smooth sounding? Yes. But that also means that it doesn't that have 'plastic overcompressed, oversaturated' sound that a lot of people give Engls crap for.
I do find channel 4 bland (and too oversaturated), but most 2 channel amp builders would die to make something like Invader's cleans + CH3 heavy rhythm tone. If CH2 was more raw like the Engl Savage or old Marshalls and CH4 was more Mesa Mark-series like, it would be my #1 amp for sure.

To me, the Invader is the best sounding Engl. Well, as far as I know, the Steve Morse is based on the Invader and I used to have one. I love those amps and they definitely do not have the Powerball or Fireball thing going on but a much more robust sound. Some people criticize Engl amps for odd reasons, and most of the time they have limited to no experience with them so I don't pay much attention to the naysayers. The Invader is among the most supreme amps in the world as far as I'm concerned.

It is easy...there is none. I was hunting those 3-4 channel amps for years to have most versatile amp in the world but they always felt short if You compared them to 1-2 channel amps. None of them has clean channel of the old Fender amp, crunch of JCM800 and lead from SLO. Put side by side JVM to JCM800 a they are not even close to each other, JVM sound like joke if You try to get 'that' crunch. Decatone is another example of falling short to SLO lead channel. Mesa Mark V on lead channel is not very close to IIC. Roadking, XTC etc....
Another issue is balance those multichannel amps to work in band mix volume-wise, always a strugle...

I had this thing . It was solid . I’ve never seen one again . Wish I’d kept it for the nostalgia atleast

That's all personal opinion man. You should go and play an Invader because it's not just some channel-switching metal amp but a real tone machine. For example, I've owned both a Mark IIc+ and a Mark V and think the Mark V is outstanding. Is it exactly like the IIc+? No, but it's so close I don't care. The Petrucci model is definitely iic+ all the way but I don't think it's better sounding than the Mark V as a general statement. Lots of good tone on many albums have been recorded. If you want to be some kind of purist then go ahead but it doesn't diminish what those great amps have to offer. In the end, tone is mostly in the fingers.

Synergy amps. Between the heads, syn1, syn2 and all the older Randall & Egnater stuff you can have as many channels as you want that all sound great. With my setup I'm currently up to 11 LOL.

I have the Morse and it's a great sound amp with so much tone shaping abilities. I think the Inferno; which I also have, is the best sounding of all the ENGL's. If you haven't tried one you really need to . It takes the best aspects of several ENGL's including the Morse and rolls it into a tone monster. It still has that ENGL compression, but it's a good bit more open than the rest.

Whoaaahh I remember this; early 00's Nu-Metal vibes right there!

Never played this, but I had a Triamp mk2 from 2011 to 2019. Really underrated amp: crushing channel 3b, 3a had a great feel for leads and 2a was a killer Marshall-ish crunch.

Never really understood the knock on the Triamp as being: "Souless, sterile, brittle, etc" but then again, I play PRS guitars , which also get a similar knock. 🤷‍♂️

Inferno is the only Engl I haven't played. The demos didn't do any justice as far as demonstrating it's versatility so I kind of tuned it out. However, now that you said that, it'll be worth checking out before making a decision. Thanks.

I’ve never played another HK . But that warp X was not too bad . I regret selling lol

These 2 videos are the best representation of what it sounds like

It sounds really good man. The first video has an aggressive crunch reminiscent of the Savage 120 I had for a while. Really great definition and note separation at high gain.

Inferno is a fantastic amp. It sounds good, wherever you turn the knobs :). It's more organic than Savage. Euge's video is closer to real live sound.
