ENGL or Bogner cabs

People say a lot of things suck on the internet. I wouldn't worry about that personally, but sure, buy some UK V30s to compare if it's important to you.

I don't want to waste my time and money - I just want a verified opinion from you.

I have a bogner 4X12 with V30s I got back in '01 (I assume they're UK V30s given '01), it sounds great. I haven't A/B'd my cab to a newer cab with Chinese V30s but I have played lots of cabs with V30s, some of which were undoubtedly chinese V30s. I think the difference between the cab construction between a bogner uberkab and an engl front loaded cab will have a much bigger impact on tone than UK vs Chinese V30s as they're very different cabs.

Mhm ...So assuming - the China V30 is also good ...
In which year they move all production of V30 to china ? It was 2003 ?

It can be little misleading ... Because i found many V30 , in many cabs with label : "Celestion International LTD , Ipswitch, Foxhall , Suffolk , England" , but i canot see the white sticker on the magnet which can clear all.
So speakers with this label were also CHina made ? I know that later production (prob 2009 to now ) have only "Celestion INternational LTD" and white sticker on magnet with "made in CHina " sticker.

Why are you worried about how to identify them if you do not buy used? Mesa is the only manufacturer in business today that has access to UK made V30's, its been said before at least 3 times in this thread - you have nothing to worry about

If the tonal difference were as bad as you claim then a few manufacturers would have made it a top priority to solve the "problem".

But they havent.

And most likely wont.

No , i don't tell the China is worser , because i don't compared them to UK ones.

My problem is , i'm such a gear maniac. I always wanted to have these type of stickers : Made in Japan , made in USA , made in UK , and others with such solid reputation.

I never undercovered cabs like Bogner and ENGL , so i don't know the country production ... If Mesa can have their own UK V30 , maybe other producers also could?
All i know is Mesa have still UK V30 ( You claimed that) , and that V30 , which we can buy in shop as a upgrade/change to our cab is China V30.

Bogner does not hand make their own cabinets, the cabinets are made by another company - the same company of Cameron cabinets of King Guitars - the forum you are on right now.

I am going to say this one more time - Mesa is the only, the only, the only, manufacturer that has access to UK V30's. Everything else is Chinese manufactured. There are no other options available to you. None. Purchase the Cabinet of your choice - part out the speakers, and then buy new UK V30's directly from Mesa.

You will have about 1600 in each cabinet alone by the time you do this but if that is what you want then go for it.

Awwww no :P
I just want to know about one thing : CHINA V30 = UK V30 ?

You know , i don't wanna to pay extra cash for UK V30( in addition - used) if they are the same as China V30 ( excluding sticker etc .. ).

Ok , got that.

Oh , and it is normal that in the beginning speaker sound little boxy , bit harsh ?
It become warmer and deeper ?

I have a Bogner Uberkab with Chinese Celestions in it. And it slays.

/end

If V30 ... brilliant news !

V30/75 mix in the Uberkab.

Many have already said that PRC Celestions sound great. Get over it for fuck's sake.

I have a engl XXL cab with vintage 30s in it. Sounds amazing. Front loaded is great for me. I play technical death stuff. Super tight and articulate but shows all your mistakes if you make any. I've had it for about 2 years now and have gone on 4 tours since then with it. Love it.

As for people talking about the differences in the metal they are made out of.... I manage a Recycling plant here in the United States and I know for a fact that China has the best steal available in the world and has for the past 5 years. They have been buying tons and tons and tons of number 1 steel. China made stuff that isn't made with pot metal is better quality then almost anything else.

Can you explain ? what is pot metal ?

And your cab is also loaded with China V30 ? ( im just asking due to curiosity , not to mess around China V30).

You said it one too many times. Ever hear of a little company called Marshall ? Their 'Vintage' speaker is a slight variation of a V30, made in the U.K. since 1985. How did you miss this one ?

Pot metal is just crap metal that is usually made from the slag of better metals (slag is the stuff that rises to the top when melting metal that is scraped off and usually thrown away) I'll open my cab up right now to look for you. As for all this mesa talk. I'll say it. I think mesa cabs are crap. I'd probably rock a B-52 cab over a mesa. But everyone has their opinions and what sounds best to them. If you like articulate sound that is tight (mesa lovers would call it overly tight) then stay way from mesa cabs. I'll let you know in about a hour what's in there.

Other companies have USA assembled V30 type speakers if that is important. Weber and WGS both make V30 style speakers. You could always try to see if Engl or Bogner will sell an unloaded cab.

Good advice ;)
I bought ENGL 2x12 Pro V30 and ... it kick balls !
I bought 2x12 only for shipping reason - my car is brand fucking uber fiat seicento.
If ENGL puts China V30 - they know what are they doing , ENGL don't give shit ...
For god sake !

I laught now at all rabble rousers !
I little broked the speakers by cranking the volume way up and ... amazing ... without any fucking harsh or other described in the net shit about China V30 !

Thank you all for your posts ! I won't regret acquisition !
