Looking forward to it with that new badass Engl cabMy video will be up tomorrow
Unfortunately I only had a couple days to do the demo before I had to send it out to LA for ESP to do their thing with it so I only have the one video for nownLooking forward to it with that new badass Engl cab
Will Engl also let you run it through an oversized Mesa cab?
Posted a little teaser video, just for fun
Well luckily for you, they're the same person, ya fuck. What’s your take on the new version versus the old after having just played one over Engl month? I’m asking for the Kyle on RT opinion not the paid advertisement Kyle from ESP
Jesus christ that amp has so many fucking buttons and knobs. Amp sounds good, but I would lose my goddamned mind with all those buttons. Too much over 6 knobs, I start to get annoyed.
Special Ed for short. Every amp guaranteed to be delivered in a short yellow bus.Just wait until they release their even bigger newest flagship, the "ENGL Special Special Special Edition - Founders Edition Edition" amp.

The differently abled are not monsters. Shame on you.You talk as if that monster could be delivered on anything smaller than a bus.

Well that makes a lot of sense. And i love single channel amps so i see 4 more channels than i need, but the amp isnt for me, and i definitely get how it could be for someone else. Dont take what i say too seriously. Would like to check it out if we can convince @mhenson42 to pick one upJokes aside, yeah the amp looks complicated at first glance, but it's actually relatively simple when you only look at one channel at a time. Each individual channel has the same number of knobs as a JCM 800. Gain, TMB Tonestack, Presence, Master. All the switches are basically different variations of more/less gain, mids, or bass.
I have a 670 preamp which is just the preamp section of the old Special Edition and really once you find your favorite sounds, you pretty much stick with them. After that, the amp doesn't really feel any more complicated than any other channel switcher.

In plumbing, we try to make as few connections as possible. Less can go wrong that way. It is not different with amps. When you have 500 solder joints as opposed to 60, that is about 9 times more likely to have either a bad solder joint or a bad component. A lot of guys do the same thing you do. You find the tone in an amp that is good and the rest of the shit is superfluous. I love that i came to your house with the same amp and we had it dialed in almost exactly the same. I think i had the mids a tiny amount less scooped.that’s not happening. I had one back in the day. It has a great metal tone, probably my favorite from ENGL, but most of the buttons were useless and made things sound worse. You can still hear it in Olas video. Even he turns most of the shit off to get a tone he likes. same problem I had with the savage mk2… one good tone I like with a bunch of features that were useless to me. I’m beginning to move in your direction where I prefer simplicity. Hell i even feel the same aboutmy Uber Ultra. .. all the switches and I set it once and haven’t changed it. Lol
i sold my SE because I read some people had issues getting theirs fixed and they were basically expensive boat anchors at that point. I never felt ENGL build quality was particularly great. The inside of that amp looks like a desktop compute. At least now ESP USA is involved so I’d be less concerned about getting it serviced
