Ok, i'll bite. Couldn't help but laugh at such a feeble attempt to sound cool when you don't know what everyone's experience with (these) amps is.

Here's mine, (if you wonder why the sound changes early on, that's my phone's camera adjusting for the volume).

now show me yours. :p

FWIW, I never once said that the SE doesn't cut through or anything. It *can* sound fuckin' brutal and as someone who's owned and played many Engls, you gotta know how the channel volumes interact with the master volume. Low channel volume + high master volume = distortion pedal sound, opposed to 'tube amp' sound. This holds true for the Savage, the SE, the Invader... That's why it still baffles me that Ola runs his Savage 60 this way (Lead volume around 8 or 9 'o clock with the Master at 2 'o clock... I have it the other way around and it sounds waaaaay better that way.)
Boltzthrower: “But Engls can cut.”

Speeddemon: “No, Engls can cut.”

Boltzthrower: “I guess we’re just gonna have to agree to agree then.”

True @boltzthrower (y), but I read it differently about you saying folks not being able to properly dial in an Engl.

The one Engl that gives others undeservedly a bad rep for getting buried in the mix is the Powerball MKI.
If you have that next to a simpler Marshall DSL or a 5150-ish amp, chances are no one will hear the Powerball at equal volume anymore.

For a while I played in a Twisted Sister tribute, using my EVH 5150III 6L6 50W (1st version) and the other guitar player had a Powerball MKI... I had to step in to make HIS sound at least passable.
Same thing by the way with these horrid Hughes and Kettner Warp 7 heads. Had to play those once in a rehearsal room on a 4x12 cab. The week after I brought my little Engl Ironball, that sounded miles better, even with just 2x EL84.

The Engl Artist with KT77s is in a different direction from the original. Highly suggest checking one out or getting a non-special edition one and throwing KT77s in it.

I read some of the comments in here, and I think in (imo) most of the new amps are just a let down. I was not at all impressed with the Uber Ultra, but I am also going to try the el-34 version and if I do get another KT 88 I am going to check the bias.

Here's an in-depth look at the 6L6 version with a wide variety of guitars:

I know you owned the OG but did you get to try this one?

Have you gotten your Uber Ultra yet?
I wouldn’t worry man. All these amps are great. I’ve got opposite reactions from a few people that
Haha, I love how the Engl thread turned into a Wizard thread. I wanna try a KT88 HellRazor !
His video said this amp is better then yours so I was just playing off that

First impressions vs the OG?
I’ve had it a few weeks now, so not first impressions anymore. On one hand, it’s great that it can get way more cutting than the OG (and many of my amps actually) without being harsh or unmusical (OG is way darker) and it’s one of my more powerful amps like the OG, it’s also much tighter and more modern, which I like, but the inherent tone imho is very filtered, clinical and cardboardy the way many recent amps tend to be, especially the Omega’s IME, while the OG has a richness and warmth to the tone that just isn’t in the cards for the UU and the feel of the OG is much more connected, liquid/greasy between the notes, just better (one of my favorites for feel, even over my iic+). I guess it depends on preference since they’re different, but I find the OG a lot more inspiring to play and when I want things very tight and modern I go to my Hermansson Recto’s (hard to rival for tightness and attack), but I’m still hanging onto the UU for now

Well he said it was better than my amp and my amp is a Wzard(s). lol

I’d take my D60 and EVH 100s over it as well I guess.

Not sure you’d like the HR… but if you like the UU… you may. Very similar vibe….at least comparing with el34s.

I've never tried a Wizard so I wouldn't know! :) The thumbnail was kind of a joke, but at the same time I do believe it's one of the best amps I've ever tried (according to my tastes and opinions of course :) )
