Yeah, no shit. I was offered $7,000 for my CCV. I turned it down. It’s my favorite amp and has saved me tons of time and money not having to buy and sell searching for the sound I want.
I think Nick was here selling a CCV (for his friend) and asking 10k.
It is what it is.

There's no conspiracies here, the amp is mine. He went through the whole thing for me back in 2018

Modded 2203x on Rig-talk right now for 3000.00. .. See much better. Btw, I'm so old I remember the beginning when the Cameron modded Marshalls were 750.00 on here. . Carry on

is there an expected difference in price between an amp that has been ‘modded’ by mark vs one that has been ‘completely rebuilt’?

I wondered if someone would get it. This isn't a "modded" amp, this amp was down to the transformers and pots. I saw it stripped down and put back from the ground up then tuned by Mark. Comparisons to a Wizard or anything else is apples to oranges.

Possibly. I'm not saying Exo's Cameron is worth 5000.00 or not, or "It's Good now"'s is worth 3000.00. The ONLY way to find out is by trying them ahead of time, otherwise it's always a crap shoot. If someone has pictures of all the stuff Mark changed, then it'll help someone determine the worth IF they can't try it ahead of time. Otherwise if 'modded' means 'changed the filter caps, adjusted the bias, and added 2 diodes' , well it's your call. . Seriously I was around when killer Cameron modded Marshalls went for 750.00, and CCV's new went for a bit over 2000.00. Not anymore. Even stock Marshall 2203 reissues, Plexi's,etc have risent crazily in price, used Marshall 2204 2203's etc have doubled the past year. I'm glad I got most of my amps much cheaper, and when I sell I give great deals. I wish I could even try a Cameron before I croak but probabliy I'll never be able to try one. . I do have Marshalls modded by Golub, Egnater, Fortin, Gower, Morin, Butler, and others, so I'm a very lucky guy regardless!

A real question...what do you do with a Cameron modded Marshall if something ever happens to it? I know amp techs can work on them but are they proprietary to the point where only Mark can fix them? I could see a tech working on an amplifier like this and not be able to get it how Mark intends it to be. Maybe I am way off base as I have no experience in this field. Is that a risk in owning an amp like this?

Actually that's a 100% valid/great question. IF the parts weren't gooped, any qualified tech could 'rip off' the work. I know some of Cameron mods were gooped, but many aren't.

ive definitely thought about that with the old mig i just got, i havent checked if its gooped. knock on wood i dont have any problems either way. i would like to profile the thing thing at least at some point.

I saw a Cam-modded Marshall at the local tech when I was picking up something. I saw the tag on back and had to ask about it. It was a power tube problem/failure.

From the little I've seen it was all preamp stuff that was gooped and that stuff rarely fails.

That's my point. His mods and amps sound amazing but when he is gone...how do you go about keeping it in the condition it was meant to be in? I guess it just makes me nervous with mods in general. Mainly because I have no experience. Some of the guys here on this board can probably do it but I think the mass majority of us would be out of luck. Maybe I am overthinking it.

Nah it’s a legit concern, and it’s the reason lots of big name guys go with run of the mill DSL’s and 6505s, they can be found or replaced in Anycity USA.

Yeah definitely. However we in the hobby amp cloning/modding community do know many of the Cameron secrets. But there is clearly a disconnect between us, and your run of the mill qualified tech. Maybe some watch our threads over at SLO Clone
